Editor’s Note: In January 2018, Puli-Ra relocated to Texas Keeper Cider. Puli-Ra’s last day there was Nov. 11, 2018. Chef Shirdhar is looking to return to pop-up supper clubs, with a potential storefront coming.
You may have heard of Puli-Ra’s earlier iterations, Anjore Supper Club and farmers’ market darling ChaiWalla. Both have taken the backseat since Puli-Ra moved into Still Austin Whiskey Co.’s courtyard, as the distillery’s official food truck.

It’s no secret Austin has one of the nation’s most vibrant and experimental food scenes. An army of unique food trucks (Wunder Pig Barbecue Co., Granny’s Tacos, Hey Cupcake!); vegan ice cream (Sweet Ritual); and fully dine-able movie theatres (Alamo Drafthouse, Violet Crown) are just a few signature elements.
However, unbeknownst to many, Austin boasts one of the most delectable secret food scenes, as well. Restaurants like Chuy’s, Frigid Frog, and Olamaie all feature legitimate, buyable food items that, whether it’s to boost mystique or keep chefs from drowning in a kitchen of their own complex creations, never make it to print.

Goodbye South Shore Eatery, former home to some of our favorite Austin food trucks
Austin is constantly changing, building, and growing. A business may be here today, but gone tomorrow. And with so many people relocating to Austin on a daily basis, it’s no surprise that more and more condos, apartment buildings, and homes are being built.
The South Shore District off Riverside Drive is not immune to Austin’s changes. With its prime location close to downtown and Ladybird Lake, South Shore is set to expand with more condos, shopping, and dining establishments. Home to a handful of small businesses, the area was also known for South Shore Eatery. You could find some of our favorite Austin food trucks there, including Churro Co., Cow Bells, Compass Coffee, and Salsa & Kimchi.
Due to plans to expand South Shore, South Shore Eatery has closed. Thankfully, most of the food trucks have moved and reopened in other Austin neighborhoods. We have all of the details for you. [Read more…]

With all of the quality taco options within reach, we’re straight up spoiled here in Austin. It takes a lot to impress me now; you might say I’ve become a bit jaded. And after finding Granny’s Tacos, I wonder if I’ll ever be impressed by another taco again. It’s tough living in this city.

Brunch is one of the best things about winding down for the weekend, especially when you’ve had a hell of a week. Callie Speer knows this and has upped the ante in the restaurant scene with her new venture, Holy Roller.
Why wait for weekend brunch when you can have it every day? After working her way through Austin at big name eateries such as Swift’s Attic and Geraldine’s, Speer opened Holy Roller earlier this year to much anticipation from brunch-loving Austinites.
You’ve arrived at Noble Sandwich Company, which has two north Austin locations
Editor’s Note: As of late December 2018, the only Noble Sandwich location is on Burnet Road. The original location on 620 is being transformed into Interstellar BBQ by the owners and chefs of Noble Sandwich.
I’ve always been a sandwich lover. If I had to decide on one meal to eat for the rest of my life, then it would definitely be a sandwich. Probably a Reuben. When I first heard about Noble Sandwich Company, which opened in 2010, I immediately went to its website to peruse the menu. I was intrigued by the unique creations and wanted to try them all. Needless to say, I’ve become a frequent customer.
Not only is the Noble menu creative and delicious, but the vibe is pure Austin. The first time I walked into the restaurant, blues music was playing. There’s no better combination than good food and good music, in my opinion. Aren’t both integral to what makes Austin a fabulous city to live in?
I’ve now worked my way through the breakfast and sandwich menu, and tried a few variations of the mac and gouda dish. With scratch-made ingredients and original flavor combinations, Noble Sandwich Company does not disappoint. I’m hooked. [Read more…]
