November 19, 2022 by Austinot Writer Leave a Comment

Boating on Lake Travis with GetMyBoat.com

Best Lake Travis Boat Rental for Pontoons, Luxury Boats & more!

With long, hot summers, mild winters, and huge reservoir lakes like Lake Travis, Austin has become one of the leading boating cities in the United States. Interest in water sports and recreation has exploded in popularity, and more options are available now for getting out on the water.

Not everyone has a boat or a friend with a boat — but that doesn’t mean you can’t find a way to get on the water and experience all that Austin’s boating scene has to offer. And one great way to compare shops for boat rentals and charters on Lake Travis is with GetMyBoat.

GetMyBoat is a boat rental marketplace with a mobile app with over 200 options available on Lake Travis. The platform connects you with individual boat owners, captains, local charter operators, and marinas. This means you can find great deals, request custom quotes, and shop for boat rentals and experiences for your day on the lake.

Budget-friendly Lake Travis Boat Rental – Getmyboat in Austin

GetMyBoat in Austin

You don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to get out on the water with your favorite people! Check out some great options for the most popular types of boat rentals in Austin!

Lake Travis Pontoon Boat Rental

Pontoons are a trendy boat rental choice on Lake Travis, thanks to their large deck spaces to host big groups. Prices for pontoon boat rentals start at under $100/hour for vessels that can hold 10 or more people. If you need a party boat on Lake Travis, plan on a pontoon. The average hourly price for a pontoon is about $150/hour on Lake Travis, but many great deals can save you money on a rental.

Ski Boat Rental Lake Travis

Thanks to the popularity of water sports on Lake Travis, a wake boat is another commonly booked vessel on Lake Travis. Sometimes they are called ski boats, and they are great power boats with an inboard propulsion motor that creates the perfect waves for water sports like wakeboarding and surfing.

On average, powerboat rentals on Lake Travis range from $200-400/hour, which might sound a bit pricey, but when you consider how you can split within your group, it starts to look surprisingly affordable!

House Boat Rental Lake Travis

If you want to spend the night on Lake Travis, consider renting a house boat. House boats are a unique way to explore and experience the lake, where you can drop anchor in a quiet cove and sleep onboard, enjoy cooking meals on the water, and spend multiple days on Lake Travis. Houseboat rentals on Lake Travis start around $600 per day. They are great for a romantic getaway on the water or a family vacation.

Luxury Boat Rentals Lake Travis

Luxury yachts on Lake Travis are a popular choice for hosting events on the lake. A captain and crew will come with the price of a luxury yacht charter, and you can enjoy a party onboard or spend time with your family while exploring the lake. Many luxury yacht options will include catering or other amenities, and they are a glamorous way to enjoy Lake Travis.

Pace Bend Park

Pace Bend Park – a popular spot for boaters to venture – overlooks Lake Travis and offers great camping and cliff-jumping opportunities. This park has two main boat ramps — an excellent area for swimming and fishing off your boat.

Make sure you bring cash for the entrance fee if you’re launching your boat from here.

Hippie Hollow Beach

Best known for being the only recognized clothing-optional beach in Texas, Hippie Hollow is an adults-only hangout. It’s great for sunbathing, swimming, and relaxing on your boat or shore.

Many people prefer to experience Hippie Hollow by boat since it is a rocky beach and can be tricky to walk around. Bring water shoes if you have them and plan to explore on shore.

Devil’s Cove

No boating guide to Lake Travis is complete without mentioning Devil’s Cove. This is a famous boat party cove on the lake, where dozens of boats drop anchor and tie up over holiday weekends for an all-day party and fun.

Best Austin Restaurants With a View – 8 Most Scenic Places to Eat

October 8, 2022 by Guest Blogger Leave a Comment

Best Austin Restaurants With a View - Ski Shores Cafe

Austin Restaurants with a view | Image Credit: skishorescafe.com

Guest article by Michele Eilertsen

I select dining spots based on specific criteria: which genre(s) of food will be served, whether there are gluten-free options available, price point, and, above all, what type of views they offer.

My sentiment is this: If I wanted to enjoy dinner while staring directly at a shrub, wall, or some combination of both, then I’d throw a quick meal together and eat on my back porch.

Fortunately, the following eight Austin restaurants boast views that are spectacular. Paired with a delectable selection of sustenance, they offer a delightful experience all around.

Best Austin Restaurants With A View

1. Oasis Restaurant

Best Austin Restaurants With a View - Oasis Restaurant

Rather than saving the best for last, I’m going against the grain and commencing this list with a spot that arguably possesses one of the most spectacular views in Texas (AND is my personal favorite): Oasis Restaurant. Every square inch of outdoor patio essentially serves as an observation deck, and the breathtaking views of Lake Travis easily span miles. Grab a drink, or five, and spend the entire afternoon here.
Where: 6550 Comanche Trail Austin TX, 78732
Operating Hours: Monday – Friday: 11:30 am – 9:00 pm | Saturday: 11:00 am – 10:00 pm | Sunday: 11:00 am – 9:00 pm

2. County Line on the Hill

Best Austin Restaurants With a View - County Line on the Hill

Austin is loved for its mouthwatering barbecue and picturesque rolling hills. County Line on the Hill provides restaurant-goers with both. Whether it’s a girls’ night out, or you’re trying to impress out-of-towners, this idyllic vista should not be missed.
Where: 6500 Bee Caves Rd, Austin, TX 78746, United States
Operating Hours: Monday – Thursday and Sunday: 11:30 am – 9:00 pm | Friday and Saturday: 11:30 am – 9:30 pm

3. Hula Hut

Best Austin Restaurants With a View - Hula Hut

Come to Hula Hut for the views, but stay for the sweeping selection of fare this lakeside eatery has to dish up. The place can get a tad bit crowded on certain nights, so be sure to arrive early in the evening to secure prime seating for Mother Nature’s big show (yes, I’m referring to the sunset).
Where: 3825 Lake Austin Blvd Austin, TX 78703
Operating Hours:  Monday – Thursday: 11:00 am – 10:00 pm | Fri: 11:00 am – 11:00 pm | Saturday: 10:30 am – 11:00 pm | Sunday: 10:30 am – 10:00 pm

4. Ski Shores Cafe

A hidden gem located on Lake Austin, Ski Shores Cafe offers patrons a laid-back ambiance and a tiny slice of the true Austin lifestyle. This is the perfect place to kick back with a few friends, enjoy countless amounts of breakfast tacos, and bask in the beauty of your surroundings.

Brunch is more than just a meal; it’s a way of life. That being said, the only thing better than brunch is brunch with an ethereal view. If you ever, for even a second, doubted Austin’s unparalleled beauty, then the views at The Grove Wine Bar & Kitchen – Lakeway (not to be confused with the downtown or Westlake locations) will quell those thoughts immediately. Well-known for its extensive selection of wines, The Grove also serves lunch and dinner throughout the day.
