Planning Tips for Labor Day in Austin

  • Use rideshares or public transport – Parking near downtown and festival zones can be expensive and limited. Rideshare apps or scooters are your best bet.
  • Stay cool in the Texas heat – Pack sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and carry a reusable water bottle. Austin in early September can be scorching.
  • Check event rules – Some pool parties and music festivals have age restrictions or dress codes. Confirm before heading out.
  • Pack light but smart – A portable phone charger, cash for vendors, and a small backpack will keep you festival-ready.
  • Dress for comfort – Choose breathable clothes and comfortable shoes since you’ll likely be walking or standing for hours.
  • Keep an eye on the weather – Texas storms can roll in quickly. Bring a poncho or light rain jacket just in case.
  • Hydrate if you’re drinking – Many events feature craft beer or cocktails; balance it with water to avoid heat exhaustion.
