Varta Storytelling Festival

Varta brings a unique celebration of South-Asian folk music and intergenerational stories to the kids this weekend.

Get to see Shadow Puppets from Kerala – known as Tholpavakoothu for the first time in Austin, and enjoy an interactive folk storytelling performance with student dancers.

There will also be book signings with award-winning children’s writers, Jyoti Rajan Gopal, Reem Faruqi, and Meera Sriram. You and the kids can also join workshops such as Natasha Badhiar’s workshop on poetry and art, and a paper quilting workshop for kids led by local artist Akanksha Jain.
