Getting to the designated area for the Austin fireworks New Year celebration is made easier with the following options:

  • CapMetro: Enjoy free rides on all services after 5:00 pm on December 31, the day of the event with CapMetro. Bus routes will operate regularly, and rail service is extended until 2:30 am on January 1, 2025. Use the CapMetro Trip Planner to plan your journey.
  • Cycling: Bike directly to Auditorium Shores and utilize the on-site bike racks. Don’t forget to lock up your bike!
  • Hiking & Biking Trail: Explore the scenic route! Access the trail and find additional transportation and parking options on the Getting Around Austin and Trail Directory pages, provided by the City of Austin Government. Remember, motorized vehicles are not permitted on the trail.
  • Shared Mobility: Drop-off points are available at the southwest corner of Riverside Drive and South First Street.

Zilker Holiday Tree

The Zilker Holiday Tree stands 155 feet tall and is composed of 39 streamers, each holding 81 multicolored LED bulbs – totaling 3,309 lights. A double star at the top of the tree measures 10 feet from point to point with 150 frosted bulbs. The unique spiral pattern of lights was created by City of Austin electricians.

At its circumference, the tree measures 380 feet. The diameter is 120 feet. The base of the tree is made up of 19 utility poles, each 14 feet tall, arranged in a circle around the Moonlight Tower.
