I don’t know how to describe marriage. Sure, there are descriptors you can use to paint the picture of a relationship: happy, sad, angry, contentious; whatever. But the abundance of healthy relationships, I think — ones that work anyway — are centered in a type of commonality that isn’t really ripe for description.

When I belch and watch football and grunt like a neanderthal or if I’m dragged to the profoundly miserable Sex and the City 2  or made to endure indubitably girly “craft nights” — you know, these things that would otherwise find people incompatible — there’s that commonality with each other that brings us together. Through this Thursday, ride your bike to any of 25 participating locations to receive a discount on food and alcohol. To get your discount, you may be required to show that you arrived by bike.

North Austin Trailer Yard Opens at W. Anderson & Lamar

Grand opening of North Austin Trailer YardEDITOR’S NOTE: NATY officially closed, with the last truck leaving July 8, 2013. We were sad to see it go and feel that North Austin really needs a permanent home for the food truck community.

Last Saturday, the North Austin Trailer Yard (NATY) opened up at W. Anderson and Lamar Blvd. – in the Planet Fitness parking lot.

Austinites swarmed to the city’s newest food truck conglomeration to exercise their taste buds and see the haps.

The food trailers currently located at NATY are:

  • Snarky's Moo Baa Oink at NATYJohnny T’s BBQ (Mouthwatering Texas BBQ)
  • Snarky’s Moo Baa Oink (sandwiches)

Good news — The Austin Symphonic Band is playing a free live show on the Capitol steps this Sunday. This is a chance for you to give your mother the time she deserves while saving a few bucks!

The Austin Symphonic Band is the official band of the City of Austin. It came around in the early 1980s as a way for local Austinites to come together and play music for themselves and the public. The band has been extremely popular over the past thirty years, and now it draws large crowds for every show.
