With March being Women’s History Month, it’s a great time to celebrate women in a special way. Lucky for us, Austin has an answer for not just this month, but any time of the year you want to support women, shop local, join a community party, or participate in a multi-generational event.
Frida Friday ATX started as a monthly women’s market, offering the opportunity for local women of color makers to show and sell their work. With this founding mission, Frida Friday ATX developed a space that’s not just a market, but a creative, communal space. Pancakes are perfect for so many occasions. Woke up late and need food? Pancake. Doing a show binge and need a break? Pancake. On your way home from a night dancing? Want to show someone you care? You get the picture. Also, Shrove Tuesday, which is celebrated in some traditions with pancakes, is quickly approaching. We must prepare, Austin! Thankfully, our city has several local establishments that can satisfy a diversity of pancake preferences and occasions.

Started with the intention of bringing more awareness to surf music, Second Saturday Surf is now established as a home base for the Central Texas surf guitar scene. The monthly event at Knomad Bar has been going strong for over five years.

If you need a break from tracking down a charged scooter, then soothe your frazzled nerves with an outing to The LINC. The LINC is a one-stop entertainment destination in a former outdoor shopping center (read: it has parking). This north Austin venue offers plenty of fun with one turn of the ignition or a rideshare trip.
Long ago, Austinites flocked to a place known as Lincoln Village to get outfitted for prom or do a quick workout. Times changed, and Lincoln Village emptied out, save for a few holdouts like FedEx and Men’s Warehouse that are still there today.
But in 2013, Misuma Holdings bought the property with the intention of giving Austin businesses a place to expand, especially given other redevelopment in the area.
