An Austin Chiropractor Who Understands

November 13, 2012 by Eric Highland Leave a Comment

Dr. Nick Fourie with Chiropractic Chart in AustinFirst timers are often skeptical about using a chiropractor. I know I was.

I mean after all, you are literally putting your body into the hands of a stranger who is going to manipulate it, making it snap, crackle and pop.

Admittedly, the first time I ever went to a chiropractor was out of desperation. I was just out of high school and had this pain in my neck that wouldn’t allow me to turn my neck to the left at all. I tried everything and nothing worked. Then a friend suggested a chiropractor and, with great hesitation, I went in.

Fifteen minutes later, I was out of the office. My neck was like new and I was totally floored.

Now there should be a fair warning: not all chiropractors are created equal. Like any other profession, you have a wide spectrum of expertise ranging from mediocre to magical and everything in between.

But if you are looking for an Austin chiropractor with a magical touch, look no further. We found him.

Nick Fourie: Adventure Seeker and Sports Lover

Elie and Santie Fourie of South Africa

Dr. Fourie’s parents inspired his love for sports and healthy living

As a child growing up in South Africa, Nick Fourie wanted to be a fireman. He had a humanitarian heart and simply wanted to help people. But his father Elie was a championship body builder who ended up owning a gym. As a result, Nick spent his formative years in the gym with his dad.

Growing up with a love for sports, and natural ability as well, Nick longed for adventure. So, in his 20’s, Nick backpacked all over the world. During my time with him, he recounted stories about the beaches in Thailand and whitewater rafting the Grand Canyon as some of his favorite experiences.

Nick earned a rugby scholarship and eventually ended up in Atlanta, GA. There, he entered graduate school at the age of 30.

Sports and injury go hand in hand. Nick wanted to help people and it seemed like a natural progression to enter the world of chiropractics.

Following his heart to help people and his love of sport and adventure, Nick Fourie became Dr. Fourie of Back ‘N Place Chiropractic.

First Visit to Back ‘N Place Chiropractic

After signing a few forms and receiving a friendly greeting from Office Manager Melinda Cortez, I was ushered to an exam room.

Now the funny thing is, I was there to interview Dr. Nick Fourie, but instead I found myself being interviewed.

It’s obvious that Dr. Nick Fourie loves what he does. He jumped right in with a few targeted questions. Within seconds, he was pinpointing all of my sore areas via his fingertips with laser-like precision. I was stunned at his level of accuracy.

When I asked him how he was able to find my problem areas so quickly, Dr. Fourie said that during his graduate studies, professors would put a single hair under a page in a book and students would have to find it. He added that he can pretty much tell where people are experiencing pain by their posture, gait, and motion.

I’m telling you, Dr. Nick is a magician.

X-ray analysis

In short, my visit as a first-time patient progressed like this:

  • Check in at front desk
  • Interview with Dr. Nick Fourie
  • Dr. Fourie pinpoints my problem areas
  • X-rays of my neck, shoulders and back are taken and discussed
  • Electric muscle stem therapy (tingly goodness used to fatigue muscle spasms)
  • Adjustment (the snap, crackle and pop part)
  • Roller table (the cool down)

I don’t want to spoil all of the surprises, but I will tell you that I’ve been to many chiropractors since my first visit just out of high school, and I have never experienced anything like the work of Dr. Nick Fourie at Back ‘N Place Chiropractic.

Austin Chiropractic Adjustment

Incredibly effective adjustment time

Leaving the office, I felt better than I had in a long time. My range of motion was dramatically increased and I felt completely relaxed.

Why You Should Visit Back ‘N Place Chiropractic

Don’t just take my word for it. Back ‘N Place Chiropractic is consistently rated 5 out of 5 by their customers. Check out some of their reviews here.

Also know that visits are affordable and there are no missed appointment fees. Back ‘N Place has a special on Tuesdays called “Stop-and-Pop.” For $19, you can get an adjustment from 3:30-4:30PM and walk-ins are welcome.
