Weird Coupons Is Saving Austinites Money and Helping Local Businesses

September 5, 2012 by Eric Highland Leave a Comment

A local app focused solely on Austin  is saving Austinites money and providing exposure for Austin businesses.

Weird Coupons Helps Austin

On June 26th, we published an article about Weird Coupons, a company that believes in Austin and is dedicated to exclusively helping local businesses.

You can read the original article by Austinot Brittany here.

In short, Weird Coupons has created an app exclusively for Austinites.

How Weird Coupons Works

Locals find great deals and savings on stuff they want. Local businesses get to share discounts on their products or services with an existing customer base interested in supporting local businesses.

From Weird Coupons website: “Big businesses are moving in. They will no doubt outspend the local joints but they can’t “Out Austin” them. That’s why we created Weird Coupons, to even the playing field for the little guys.”

The concept is simple, but brilliant.

It’s win-win for locals and the local economy. And at the Austinot, we like that.

On September 1st, Weird Coupons launched its new website, which makes it even easier for local businesses to get listed and for Austinites to find great deals.

How Austin Businesses Can Be Listed for Free

Eric Knittel, founder of Weird Coupons, came up with a method that allows local businesses to list a coupon on the app for free.

For an entire month.

Any local business out there not interested in free advertising for a month, on a brand new iPhone app designed exclusively for Austin, where there is already a customer base in place…please raise your hand.

Didn’t think so.

In all fairness, there is one condition. In order to get your coupon listed for a month free on the app, you do need to either tweet it or put it on your Facebook. But big deal, right?

I Just Want to Help Local Businesses and Save Money

Well, the new Weird Coupons website has made that pretty darn easy. Get to know these guys.

It’s really pretty simple, and why not save money on stuff you are going to buy anyway, right?

Plus, you’ll be helping local businesses. What’s not to love about Weird Coupons?

@EricHighland asks:

Which local Austin business would you like to see a coupon for on Weird Coupons?

Disclosure: Weird Coupons is a sponsor of Austinot.com. What did we say? They’re into keeping it local.
