Planning your Fourth of July evening in Austin? Whether you’re heading downtown or sticking to your neighborhood celebration, this guide has everything you need to enjoy the fireworks stress-free. We’re tracking weather updates, traffic alerts, fireworks start times, and last-minute tips all day long.

What’s New or Important for Tonight

  • Zilker Park / Austin Symphony H-E-B Concert & Fireworks

    • Parking is extremely limited. The city strongly recommends walking, biking, or using CapMetro.

    • Fireworks will launch at approximately 9:30 PM.

    • Concert begins at 8:00 PM at the Long Center.

  • Hill Country Galleria Independence Day Festival

    • Live music, family fun, and a 9:30 PM fireworks show. Free admission, but parking will fill early.

  • Lakeway 4th of July Celebration

    • The morning parade happened as scheduled. Evening fireworks are still on for 9:30 PM at Rough Hollow.

Traffic and Weather

  • 🌤️ Weather Forecast: Clear skies are expected this evening across Austin and surrounding areas. Temps will hover in the mid-80s by 9 PM. Light breeze, minimal rain chance.

  • 🚗 Traffic Tips:

    • Zilker & downtown: Expect closures and delays near Barton Springs Rd, South 1st, and Riverside. Use CapMetro or ride-share with drop-offs a few blocks away.

    • Cedar Park, Pflugerville, and Round Rock: Arrive early. Many areas restrict parking on neighborhood streets.

Last-Minute Tips for a Great Night

  • Arrive by 7 PM at most locations to secure a good spot.

  • Bring chairs, blankets, bug spray, water, and snacks.
