Treaty Oak Distilling Brings Heritage to Dripping Springs

Posted on September 21, 2015 by Bill Tucker

Treaty Oak Distillery Barrel

Barrels and barrels of delicious spirits await you at Treaty Oak Distilling Co.

The sun sat low against the Hill Country skyline, blanketing the ground with yellows, reds and browns. Buildings fashioned out of reclaimed wood and discarded fences dotted the landscape. The air breathed clean as the sound of clinking glasses and laughter trickled from the wooded pavilion behind me.

If this sounds like a country fantasy, brace yourself. By embracing the majesty and power of the Hill Country, Treaty Oak Distilling Company isn’t just changing addresses. They’re building a fantastic new locale for food and spirits, and inviting good times for the whole family. An Austin classic just got a whole lot better. [Read more…]

Many times I have found myself harboring some of the most special finds I come across, for the sake of holding them dear to their community. Occasionally, the time strikes when I’m confident that the people involved with those gems will maintain the integrity of the brand, and my sharing their story will only drive them to even greater success. This happens to be one of those moments.

Celtic Seafare Supper Club is initiated every Friday evening beginning at 5:30 PM, until the last reservation spot at 8:00 PM. It’s located at 2001 W Hwy 290 in Dripping Springs, just a short drive from the city limits of Austin.

Four courses of a well thought epicurean feast are presented to each of the 24 reserved guests. Host Sebastien Caillabet and each of his kitchen and front of house team members add their own unique touch of charm and finesse to each plate that is brought to the table at Celtic Seafare Supper Club. One of my favorite day trips I’ve taken from Austin was a short 45-minute drive to Texas Hill Country Olive Co. in Dripping Springs. On a gorgeous, sunny Saturday afternoon, I enjoyed wine tasting, delicious cuisine from the bistro, live acoustic music, a tour of the olive orchard and the laid back relaxation we all hope to experience during our days off.

If you’ve never paid a visit to Texas Hill Country Olive Co., you’re in for a treat on April 5, 2014, when the Texas Olive Festival returns. In its second year, the 12-7 PM festival is perfect for dates, girls’ day out, families, and lone explorers. [Read more…]

Editor’s Note: As of July 23, 2018, Pieous has relocated to Belterra Village in Dripping Springs.

In just under one year, Josh and Paige Kaner introduced Pieous to a city full of experienced palettes and made their mark at the top of the Austin restaurant ranks, mastering the trade of pizza art.

Located west of the city at 12005 Highway 290 W, tucked under a handful of Texas live oaks, the Kaners created a living, breathing kitchen built with a complete vision of connectivity between food and human that any foodie or cook would cling to. [Read more…]

Texas Hill Country Olive Company Is Inviting Day Trip Destination

Posted on June 4, 2013 by Eric Highland

Texas Hill Country Olive Company

Texas Hill Country Olive Company in Dripping Springs, TX

The end of 2008 found John Gambini sitting in a doctor’s office, reading an article in Texas Co-op Power Magazine about the fledgling olive oil industry in Texas. John loved the romance of the Texas Hill Country and had already decided that he wanted to plant firm roots in the area (pun intended).

But more than putting a stake in the ground, John wanted to do some pioneering, accomplishing something that would stand out from other Hill Country offerings. After reading the article, he realized that he could be one of the early pioneers in the olive oil industry in Texas.

So John set out with a dream: to create a destination-class olive oil business here in Texas.

And that’s exactly what he did. [Read more…]
