Local coworking and event space, The Refinery, has grown exponentially since it opened its doors in early 2018. In addition to providing members with amazing perks and hosting inspiring events, the space just gives off a “feel-good” vibe.
Several years ago, I told myself that if I couldn’t get involved with New York Fashion Week, then I was going to find something local. I didn’t know what to expect when I started looking for fashion events in the Austin area, but I knew I’d find something. It’s Austin. We have a little bit of everything.
Imagine how ecstatic I was when I found out Austin doesn’t just have one-off fashion events. We have our own fashion week. I signed up to volunteer faster than a hot knife cuts through butter. I found out Austin Fashion Week is produced by a local company called Fashion X, and fell in love with the company’s mission to promote local designers, partnership with local nonprofits, and wonderful staff. France has always been an interest of mine. In high school, I took French instead of Spanish and relished learning about the culture. Most importantly, I loved learning about the food.
Through my Austin food adventures, I’ve found a little piece of France. Le Politique, located in downtown Austin, is a local brasserie that doesn’t disappoint with its selection of classic and delicious French fare.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve happily said goodbye to last year. Now that we’re officially in the new year, I need to stick to my resolutions. I’ve come up with some friendly tips for staying healthy, learning a new skill, and getting involved in the Austin community. I think you’ll find many of my suggestions to be manageable, no matter your interests and time constraints.
There’s something both sobering and thrilling about stepping foot into a museum. The realization there are thousands of years of history culminating into the present day gives me goosebumps.
