Join us for our 2nd Annual Family-Friendly Trunk-or-Treat with the official mermaids of Mermaid Society SMTX! This year they are excited to raise money for the San Marcos River Foundation, which will be on site!
 
Bring the family and come dressed in your best costume! The mystical mermaids will be set up in our field, just over the bridge at the back of the seating area, in the decorated trunk of their vehicles to hand out candy to each trick-or-treater and pose for photos. Each trunk and mermaid will have a different theme!

Neill-Cochran House Museum’s Halloween Carnival 2023

Come to the Neill-Cochran House Museum on Halloween afternoon dressed as you would normally or in your best cozy fall attire. A bounce house, scavenger hunts, trunk-or-treat, and more are available for kids.

Making ofrendas in remembrance of deceased ancestors in observance of Da de los Muertos will be a project that their Latinitas friends will be conducting. This event is free to attend!

This small waterfall is only a few feet in height, but it’s a serene area, and the national forest has plenty of fishing, hiking, camping, and picnic areas to enjoy. These falls are part of the Neches River and the area is the trailhead for the Sawmill Hiking Trail.

Searched high and low for “waterfalls near me now?” At a towering 175 feet high, Capote Falls is the tallest waterfall in Texas. Because the falls are the main drainage below the Rio Grande Rift and Sierra Vieja, these falls flow consistently all year long.  However, there is a catch. This waterfall is located on private property, so you have to either get permission to hike to the falls or you can opt to take a helicopter flight over the falls.

Cattail Falls earned its name because the falls look like cattails. Located in the Chisos Mountains at Big Bend Park, this Austin waterfall requires a 3-mile round trip hike to reach, but there are some great views along the way, especially as you get up close to the falls.

Dolan Falls Preserve is not open to the general public but is a waterfall in Austin you should think about. However, the neighboring Devils River State Natural Area welcomes visitors throughout the year and boasts the same river frontage and habitat found in the preserve. So, to see Dolan Falls, you’ll need permission from the Devils River Nature Preserve as they limit the number of tourists allowed to preserve the area, or you can use the adjacent Devils River State Natural Area that shares some of the same river frontages. The hike to get to the falls can be pretty challenging, but the falls are absolutely beautiful once you arrive.

Bastrop’s Big Bang Celebration

Come join Bastrop for its inaugural Big Bang Celebration full of patriotic events! Begins with the Bastrop Stampede 5K and Kids Mile at 8 am. The Pet and Pal Parade begins at 10 am, after which Bastrop’s historic Main Street hosts a cornhole tournament. Bastrop B A N G O offers a chance for visitors to complete downtown bingo cards to be entered into a prize drawing. Lastly, Market Days take place downtown with sidewalk vendors selling handmade items. The celebration culminates in Fisherman’s Park at 6 pm with music, concessions, and fireworks at dusk.

H-E-B Austin Symphony July 4th Concert & Fireworks

Spend this Independence Day with your family and friends, decked out in red, white, and blue. Head down to Vic Mathias Shores (formerly Auditorium Shores) this July 4th for an amazing event complete with a fireworks display over the city skyline backed by symphonic patriotic classics. This event is planned, produced, and performed entirely by the Austin Symphony Orchestra, with the help of its generous sponsors. The festivities begin at 8 p.m. with the Master of Ceremonies welcoming dignitaries and special guests. The concert begins at 8:30 p.m., followed by “mile-high” fireworks.

Annual Sertoma Independence Day Parade
The 2023 Annual Sertoma Independence Day Parade is bigger and better than ever and will once again feature giant helium and cold air inflatables, community groups, and patriotic spirit.  This parade will take place on the 1.5-mile route along Mays Street between Mays Crossing and Highway 79.  The parade will start at 8:30 am to beat the heat so arrive early to find the best seat to watch and celebrate!

Belton’s Fourth of July Celebration

With an estimated 30,000+ people lining the streets, and a live televised broadcast reaching around the world, the 100-year tradition of the Belton 4th of July Celebration will include a 1 1/2 mile parade route running south on Main Street (FM317) from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor to the Bell County Courthouse, then east on Central Avenue, and north on Birdwell to the Belton Police Memorial. Definitely some of the Austin fourth of July events you can’t miss!

Wells Branch FourthFest Parade and Activities

Line the streets and wave your flags at the FourthFest parade! Cheer on the cars and displays that travel through the streets of Wells Branch and show off your most patriotic pride.

Residents engage in friendly competition for the coveted blue ribbon in challenges like the Homemade Apple Pie contest, Watermelon Seed Spitting contest, and the Hot Dog Eating contest. Children play in the Radical Run Obstacle Course, ride the trackless train, and jump on the Velcro wall at this July 4th event.

The 40th annual Sertoma Club Family July 4 Celebration and fireworks display will be held at San Gabriel Park Tuesday, July 4. The event of Austin fourth of July fireworks is sponsored by the Georgetown Sertoma Club with assistance from the City of Georgetown. Activities will include live entertainment starting at noon. The festival also includes arts and crafts vendors, food vendors beer and wine vendors, a petting zoo, classic and antique cars, games, and rides for children and adults. The event concludes with a fireworks show at about 9:30 p.m.
