In 1977, during the gas shortage, Sammie Dwyer had an idea. Instead of making shoppers drive all over town from one garage or estate sale to the next, why not bring all the good stuff together in one place?

She rented the old City Coliseum, the line wrapped around the building, and City-Wide Vintage Sale has been an Austin tradition ever since.

Today, the sale fills 45,000 square feet at the Palmer Events Center twice a month, with 80 to 100-plus vendors bringing in all kinds of treasures.

You’ll find mid-century modern furniture, estate jewelry, vintage clothes, collectibles, china, movie posters, retro luggage, military memorabilia, and plenty of wonderfully random finds that don’t fit neatly into any category.
