You think you can design the best Austin t-shirt? We’re launching an epic t-shirt design contest, open to Austinites only. The prize package is ridiculous, so show us what you’ve got!
If you’ve been here for a while, you know that Austin is an amazing place full of one of a kind people and places. We want you to translate the spirit of Austin into a design.
Prize Package
One design will be chosen among the entries and the winning artist will receive a Grand Prize Package worth $2,000!

We don’t want to put too many limitations on your creativity. The Austinot is all about the local vibe that makes Austin what it is. We love our city landmarks; we love our city attitude. And we’re sure you do too.
Keep in mind, your t-shirt doesn’t have to say anything about the Austinot. The t-shirt should capture the essence of Austin. We want Austinites and visitors who fall in love with our city to see your t-shirt and say, “That’s awesome. I get it.”
Funny is encouraged. Quirky is great. Edgy is okay. Crude is not okay.
Entrant Guidelines
- Only Greater Austin Metro residents are eligible to enter.
- Entrants must be 18 years of age or older.
- The design must be your own original, unpublished work and must not include any third-party logos or copyrighted material.
- By entering the competition, you agree that your submission is your own work.
- There is no cap on the number of entries you can submit.
- By accepting the Grand Prize Package valued at $2,000, the winner agrees to surrender all rights to the chosen t-shirt design to the Austinot and to sign an agreement specifying the Austinot’s legal possession of the winning design.
The Technical Stuff
- Designs may include line art and text. All type should be larger than 12 point.
- Do not include photographs in design.
- Your design is for the front of a t-shirt and may encompass an area up to 12 inches wide and 15 inches high.
- Designs may use a maximum of two colors.
- Digital entries only. To enter, you must submit a 900 x 1125 pixel jpg, png or pdf file through our online submission page.
- By submitting your digital entry, you are certifying that you can provide a high-resolution image suitable for reproduction as a t-shirt screen. High resolution images will be required to be a winner of the grand prize package. Images in .eps format are preferred. We will also accept VECTOR art entries in the following formats: .ai, .cdr, .pdf, .svg, .wmf.
- The Austinot reserves the right to make changes to the winning design before printing.
Submission and Deadline
Contest entries must be submitted between June 12, 2013 and August 15, 2013. Deadline is 11:59 PM on August 15, 2013.
Submit your entry through our online submission page. By submitting your entry, you are agreeing to the terms of the contest as listed above.
Community Participation
Contest entries will be posted on Austinot.com for community rating within 48 hours of submission. The Austinot reserves the right to not post entries if they are overly offensive.
You’re welcomed to rate the entries, no matter where you live! Vote for the entries right here.
Judging
Austinot founders Eric and Brittany Highland will make the final decision on the Grand Prize design. Community voting will be taken into consideration.
Design Release and Award Party
The Grand Prize winner will be announced on Austinot.com!
We plan to throw a party to award the Grand Prize and show off our first Austinot t-shirt! The party will take place in Austin, location and date TBA.
