Halloween Night in Austin 2026: 6th Street Costume Street Party & Downtown Bashes

6th Street Halloween Street Party

Put on your best costume and head to 6th Street on October 31. From Brazos to Red River, the street closes to traffic and fills with a massive costumed crowd.

Elaborate creations, ridiculous getups, pop-culture references, and plenty of questionable costume decisions turn the whole strip into one giant Halloween party in Austin.

The bars along 6th Street also run their own parties with live music, DJs, and costume contests, with covers generally ranging from $10 to $30.

Get there before 9 PM if you want an easier time moving between venues, as the biggest crowds arrive between 9 PM and midnight. Street closures begin at 8 PM, so leave the car at home. Rideshare, pedicabs, and scooters are your best options.

For the full 6th Street Halloween experience, wander the strip, check out the costumes, and duck into whichever bar catches your attention.

Halloween Night in Houston 2026 – Themed Parties, Raves & Immersive Austin Halloween Events 2026

Fear Fair at Sign Bar

Halloween night 2026 in Austin - Fear Fair at Sign Bar

Sign Bar’s Halloween setup starts with the bar itself: the East Austin venue is built around a collection of rescued signs from shuttered Austin businesses, preserving pieces of a city that keeps tearing itself down.

Every fall, that collection gets a haunted addition, and the 2026 Fear Fair brings a brand-new haunted clown maze rebuilt from scratch with upgraded sets and more live scare actors than the 2025 version.

Three actors work weeknights, six work Fridays and Saturdays, and all six are in the maze every night from October 26 through 31. The maze runs September 16 through November 1, so you have the whole season to pick your night.

Want the creepy sets without someone jumping out at you? The daytime matinee lets you explore the maze actor-free, which is ideal for checking out the build and grabbing your photo ops without an actor waiting around the corner.

The bar is 21+ after 7 PM, making the evening version an adults-only night out.

Where: Sign Bar, 9909 FM 969 Bldg 3, Austin, TX 78724
When: October 31 – November 1, 2026
How Much: Daytime matinee— $6.50 | Live Actor Maze — $14.50

Fairmont Austin — Haunted Rooftop Party

Dress up and head to the Fairmont for a Halloween party in Austin spread across three spaces on the hotel’s 7th floor.

Palm Court, Palm Park Ballroom, and rooftop bar Rules & Regs each bring something different to the night, so you can switch things up without leaving the party.

The Ballroom runs club mixes from 10 PM to 2 AM, Rules & Regs puts you outside with downtown Austin glowing around you, and Palm Court connects the two.

Four DJs are playing throughout the night, including DJ Kra-Z-Mix and DJ Beltron.

VIP tickets also come with a two-hour prepaid bar from 9–11 PM, while everyone gets a light-up party favor while supplies last.

Costumes are highly encouraged.

Where: Fairmont Austin, 101 Red River St, Austin, TX 78701
When: October 31, 2026 | 9 pm – 2 am
How Much: Starts at $37

LINE Austin — Park & Scream at P6

Get your Halloween night started above Lady Bird Lake at P6, the rooftop bar at LINE Austin.

Austin Speed Shop and Tough Enuff are taking over the space with a 70s horror-inspired party, complete with Maximum Overdrive on the decks.

And yes, it’s free. Just RSVP ahead of time, then head up to the rooftop from 7–10 PM for cocktails, music, costumes, and views across Lady Bird Lake toward downtown.

There’s a good cause attached, too. Every cocktail sold at P6 throughout October sends $2 to Haven at Campise Farms, an animal rescue organization working across Texas. So you get a rooftop Halloween party and contribute to its rescue work at the same time.

Spots are limited, so an RSVP is encouraged.

Where: The LINE Austin, 111 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78701
When: October 31, 2026 | 7 pm – 10 pm
How Much: Free

Halloween Night in Austin – Family & Twilight Spectacles: All-Ages Halloween 2026

Haunted Shores at Volente Beach

Volente Beach Resort on Lake Travis trades its usual waterpark setup for an abandoned-waterpark backdrop every October, with empty slides, drained pools, and idle structures setting the scene for Haunted Shores.

This family Halloween ATX experience features light scares, hand-built scenery, and creepy characters rather than actors jumping out of pitch-black rooms.

On Friday and Saturday nights, you can add a boat ride around Starnes Island, departing at 7:30, 8:30, and 9:30 PM. Each departure is capped at 50 people, so that one books up fast.

Beachside Billy’s restaurant also opens at 5 PM for ticket holders, so you can stick around after your walk-through for themed cocktails, snacks, and music.

Tickets are timed, non-refundable, and individual time slots, especially the boat ride, book up fast, so reserve your date and time in advance.

Where: Volente Beach Waterpark, 16107 Farm to Market Rd 2769 Suite D, Leander, TX 78641

Know Before You Go: Halloween Night in Austin

Downtown Austin gets busy on Halloween, especially around Sixth Street, East Sixth Street, and the Red River Cultural District. If you’re driving in from Round Rock, Cedar Park, Buda, Kyle, or Westlake, allow extra time for traffic and parking. Travel times will depend on where you’re coming from and how busy the roads are that evening.

  • Street closures and traffic: Expect possible road closures and restricted vehicle access around downtown as crowds gather for Halloween. Check the City of Austin’s latest announcements before you leave, particularly if you’re planning to visit Sixth Street. Give yourself extra time to reach your destination, and avoid assuming you can drive directly to a bar or venue entrance.
  • Ride-share pickup and drop-off: Getting picked up right outside a busy bar can be difficult when streets are crowded or closed. Choose a meeting point a few blocks away from the busiest stretch, and check your app for available pickup locations before requesting a ride. If you’re meeting friends, agree on a specific spot in advance so you aren’t trying to find each other in the crowd.
  • Public transportation: CapMetro can be a useful alternative to driving and looking for downtown parking. Check the schedules for CapMetro Rail and MetroRapid routes before heading out, paying particular attention to the last departures. Don’t assume regular service hours or holiday schedules will accommodate a late-night return trip.
  • Costume rules: Check the dress code for your chosen bars and clubs before putting together your costume. Some venues restrict full-face masks or accessories that make identification difficult, and realistic weapon props may be prohibited. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID if you plan to enter bars or other age-restricted venues.

Common Questions About Halloween Night 2026 in Austin

Is the 6th Street Halloween party free to attend?

Walking along public streets is generally free, although access may be affected by event-specific restrictions or closures. Individual bars, clubs, and music venues can charge admission or cover fees, particularly for Halloween parties. Check the venue’s event listing for ticket prices and entry requirements before you go.

Are there kid-friendly Halloween events happening in Austin on Halloween night?

Yes, families can look for pumpkin displays, corn mazes, seasonal attractions, and Halloween activities around Austin and the surrounding communities. Pioneer Farms and farms in the Georgetown area are worth checking for seasonal programming, but confirm their October 31 schedules before making plans. If you’re bringing younger children downtown, consider going earlier in the evening, before the nightlife crowds grow.

What time do Halloween night parties get busiest in Austin?

Downtown bars and Sixth Street typically get busier as the evening progresses, with late-night crowds gathering around popular venues. Arriving earlier can mean shorter lines and an easier time getting into your preferred bar or club. If you’re attending a ticketed Halloween party, check the event’s recommended arrival time and entry policy rather than relying on a general estimate.
