Have a wild and spooky night at Boo at the Zoo 2025! The Austin Zoo transforms into a festive wonderland filled with glowing lights, playful decorations, and plenty of Halloween spirit.

Hop aboard the Haunted Train for a spine-tingling ride and dare to enter the eerie Haunted House, both included with your admission. (Just remember to book your train ride early — spots fill up fast!)

As you explore the zoo after dark, you’ll also get to see the animals in a whole new light while enjoying Halloween-themed games and activities sprinkled throughout the grounds.

Halloween Carnival at Neill-Cochran House Museum

Celebrate the spooky season in true Austin style at the Halloween Carnival at the Neill-Cochran House Museum! This family-friendly favorite is bursting with fun activities for all ages, from trunk-or-treating and scavenger hunts to classic carnival games that keep the festive energy going all afternoon.

In addition to all the Halloween fun, you can step inside one of Austin’s most historic homes for interactive tours and explore a beautifully crafted ofrenda in honor of Día de los Muertos.

Boo at the Farm

Have a blast at the 4th Annual Boo! @ The Farm Halloween Party! This event turns the 95+ acre sanctuary into a fun-filled place where you can meet the over 250 resident animals and support the farm’s mission.

You will have plenty of fun activities, including trick-or-treating around the sanctuary and guided tours to meet the residents. You can also explore an outdoor vendor market and enjoy a movie under the stars,.

Halloween at the Hive: Boo Bash

The Hive by Bee Cave Arts Foundation is transforming its gallery into a Halloween haven for five nights this October.

Families can spend the day making mischievous art projects, taking supernatural family photos, and vying for paranormal prizes. Parents also get in free with a child’s paid admission.

Halloween Children’s Concert

The Austin Symphony Orchestra’s annual Halloween Children’s Concert is coming to the Long Center for a swashbuckling adventure suitable for all ages. Conductor Pablo Zamora will lead the orchestra on a daring voyage through short works that capture the thrills and chills of pirate lore.

Guests are strongly encouraged to come in costume for the fun Spooktacular Costume Contest. “Treasures” will be awarded to the best costumes live onstage during the show.

You should also arrive early to enjoy the Pre-Concert Activities for Kids, beginning one hour before the performance on the H-E-B Terrace and in the Long Center Lobby. These activities include musical crafts, games, and the always-popular Instrument Petting Zoo.

Spooktacular

The Bullock Museum invites you to come in costume for its annual Spooktacular, an evening dedicated to slimy, shocking, and spooky science fun. In partnership with Girlstart, you and the kids can enjoy hands-on STEM activities throughout the evening.

You can also embark on a spooky scavenger hunt through the Museum’s exhibitions after hours. This unique event is also offering a special Día de los Muertos activity, presented in partnership with MathHappens.

Additionally, this year’s Spooktacular offers the exciting chance to explore the Museum’s newest special exhibition, “T. rex: The Ultimate Predator.”

Trick-or-Treating & Community Festivals

Trick or Treat on the Trail

Explore the greenbelt trail with other families in a safe environment while you trick-or-treat at over 20 stations.

Community partners will offer candy, games, activities, and free health and safety resources, and you can expect a record-breaking 10,000 pieces of candy this year! Look forward to much more entertainment, including a monster mash blacklight dance party.

6th Annual Trunk or Treat

Join the 6th annual Trunk or Treat at the Nelson Athletic Complex, where the kids can enjoy trick-or-treating while interacting directly with police officers from the district.

Police vehicles will be on display for children to enjoy, and officers will be handing out candy directly from decorated vehicle trunks. Numerous community partners will also be present, offering additional giveaways for the whole family. Families can also enjoy plenty of entertainment, including free food, drinks, and music.

Children are strongly encouraged to wear their favorite costumes for the event.

If you’re hunting for the ultimate fright fest this fall, Bat City Scaregrounds 2025 is the place to be.

Just outside the city limits, this massive 15-acre Halloween playground is one of the most thrilling Halloween events in Austin, featuring three spine-chilling haunted attractions that have earned rave reviews for their “gore-tastic, frightful good time.”

But it’s not all screams and scares. The entertainment goes far beyond the haunted houses. Horror Film Series Panic At The Paramount

Get ready for the ultimate Halloween horror movie experience as Panic at the Paramount returns!

Showings include horror classics like Pet Sematary and the Japanese horror-comedy Hausu, shown in a thrilling double feature. You can also see An American Werewolf in London, which will be followed by a live Q&A with actor David Naughton.

The series concludes with a screening of the iconic Halloween, followed by a special mystery movie presented by filmmaker Robert Rodriguez.
