Teen Summer Film Intensive

This summer experience is best suited for students with a strong interest in learning the art of filmmaking. Ideally, this student is looking to meet like minded youth to explore filmmaking, learn new media skills, and create a film together over the course of two weeks with guidance from two pro indie filmmakers & educators. 

Our hands-on Teen Summer Film Intensive will take students through the process of making a short film from script to screen. Students will be immersed into the world of filmmaking and learn extensively on topics such as: screenwriting, storyboarding, character development, camera movement, sound, lighting, and post-production editing. Each student will experience crew roles found traditionally on set such as: Gaffer (lighting), Boom Operator (sound), Editor, Cinematographer (camera), Producer, and Director.

Further, we’ll dive into the world of mood, tone, intent, aesthetic, set design, and art direction. Creating sets by hand, using light to evoke mood & tone, and capturing behind the scenes movie magic in a realm of digital photographs. Each step will be documented and at the end of the course, students will have completed a short film.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Students are required to practice COVID-19 protocols such as wearing a mask, sanitizing equipment after use, and social distancing procedures when needed.

• Each day, students will have a 30 minute lunch break outdoors on our campus picnic-style. Students must bring their own lunch.

• Parent/guardian will be notified of additional information concerning drop/pick up procedure after sign-up.

• Parents/guardians must adhere to Austin School of Film’s COVID-19 Protocols such as students receiving a temp check at sign-in each day.

This summer experience is limited to 10 students only per session.

Session I: July 12-23, 2021 (Monday – Friday) from 10:00am – 2:00pm

Session II: July 26-August 6, 2021(Monday – Friday) from 10:00am – 2:00pm
