Austin’s commitment to the environment is legendary. This year, the slate of Earth Day Events Austin is bigger than ever, stretching from the heart of East Austin to the growing hills of Bee Cave and the historic streets of Georgetown.

Whether you’re looking for a massive street festival or a quiet nature walk, Earth Day 2026 has a way for every Central Texan to give back.

Major Earth Day Events Austin Festivals

Earth Day ATX 2026 at Huston-Tillotson University

Earth Day ATX 2026 will take over Huston-Tillotson University with a mix of music, art, and community-driven activities with the theme “A Moment for Us.” The campus will be filled with hands-on projects, kids’ programming, storytelling, exhibits, games, and food, alongside conversations focused on the planet’s future.

Special features will include an electric vehicle ride and drive, upcycled fashion, an interactive history exhibit, and a session with a world-renowned bat expert.

Zilker Park Earth Day Picnic

Zilker Park’s Earth Day Picnic will center on connection, conversation, and time outdoors. You will be grouped into curated picnic crews based on your responses, creating a more intentional way to meet others while enjoying music and shared activities.

Light bites from local vendors, access to games, and entry into an Earth Day raffle with pickleball prizes will be included. Bring a blanket, extra snacks, and a willingness to engage to make the most of the experience.

For the Love of Parks Festival

The For the Love of Parks Festival will return to Richard Moya Park for its fourth year, bringing attention to Travis County’s parks system. The event will highlight more than 27 parks and over 13,000 acres through a full day of live music, outdoor activities, and hands-on experiences.

You can enjoy games, sports, creative play, and local food trucks, alongside opportunities to learn about nature-based initiatives, volunteer efforts, and trail development.

Suburban Earth Day Events Austin Celebrations

Earth Day San Marcos Festival

The Earth Day San Marcos Festival will return to Spring Lake with the theme “One Heart, Many Waters,” highlighting the connection between water, ecosystems, and the community. 

Enjoy live performances, demonstrations, and interactive exhibits throughout the event, alongside eco-focused organizations and vendors. The lineup will also offer plenty of ways to engage with environmental topics in a hands-on setting.

Round Rock’s 2026 Earth Day event will take place at Yonders Point in Old Settlers Park, bringing together exhibitors, activities, and services focused on environmental awareness.

Lakeway Earth Day Invasive Species Removal

Become a helper at Lakeway’s Earth Day effort which will focus on restoring the Hamilton Greenbelt by removing invasive Nandina plants. The project is designed to support native habitats and improve conditions for local wildlife.

Plan for a half-mile walk to the site and come prepared with water, comfortable clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Snacks and water refills will be available, and minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Lake Travis Zipline Adventures Earth Day Tour

Head over to Lake Travis Zipline Adventures for their Earth Day tour built around outdoor exploration. The three-hour guided experience will include five ziplines, a scenic boat ride, and wide views of the Hill Country.

Earth Day Celebration

The Texas Science & Natural History Museum will host an Earth Day program focused on hands-on learning. Activities will explore tectonic plates, rock types, and the geological forces that shape the planet.

A creative station will also allow you and the kids to transform plastic waste into fashion designs. The day will conclude with a free outdoor demonstration by the UT Physics Circus.

TreeFolks Annual Friends and Family Picnic

The TreeFolks Friends and Family Picnic will expand this year’s Earth Day gathering with new additions and returning favorites. Enjoy a makers market, live DJs, and a nature-themed dog costume contest plus other activities like bug safaris, tree loteria, and Ask-an-Arborist sessions.

There will also be a seed swap so bring labeled seeds to share if you have some. Food and drinks from local vendors will be available throughout the day.
