Icenhauer’s has been a favorite drinking hole on Rainey Street since 2010. Except, it’s not really a hole at all. The history of its thoughtfully-renovated structure dates back to 1895, when it was built as a “wing and gable” house. Today, Icenhauer’s is home to an exceptionally friendly staff, crafting a plethora of uniquely infused cocktails.
There are plenty of opportunities to try their brand new summer drink menu, created by General Manager Stuart Thompson. Happy hour at Icenhauer’s is from 4-9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday and 4-7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. As a bonus, you can get 25 percent off all cocktails named after ladies during happy hour.
Check out the highlights of the summer menu below and ask yourself: Which one do you want to try first?
The Mary
Refreshing summer drink made with jalapeno-infused Deep Eddy Peach Vodka, lime juice, vermouth, bitters and simple syrup.
The Sullie
This cocktail offers a delicious bite, made with ancho reyes chile liquor and watermelon-infused Deep Eddy Lemon Vodka.
The Avery
My personal favorite. The Avery is made with freshly-grilled pineapple, jalapeno-infused 512 Silver Tequila, lime juice, agave nectar and coconut water. Wowzers.
The Jackie
This is a great cocktail for ginger beer lovers. It also includes lime juice, crème de cassis and 512 Resposado Tequila.
The Karen
This gorgeous drink is made with blackberries, lemon-infused Aviation Gin, bitters, lemon juice and simple syrup.
Other than the mouth-watering cocktail menu, Icenhauer’s offers social events throughout the week:
- Super Soul Sundays: Twelve-piece Austin-based soul band, The Nightowls, performs from 3-6 p.m.
- Wednesdays: DJ Nixx spins from 9 p.m.-1 a. m. (and 10 p.m.-2 a.m. on Fridays).
- Thursdays: The Jack Burton Trio performs from 8-11 p.m.
- Front Porch Fridays: Chill session with Brandon Hughes and his guitar from 6-8 p.m.
- Saturdays: You’ll find DJ E-PHLAT spinning from 10 p.m.-2 a.m.
There will always be a thirsty place in my heart for Icenhauer’s, and now there’s even more reason to visit due to the new summer cocktails!
