Your Mom’s Burger Bar Announces Closing

May 21, 2014 by Brittany Highland 1 Comment

Your Mom's Burger Bar on Airport in Austin

Your Mom’s at 5001 Airport Blvd. is closing their doors

After six years of serving the Austin community with delicious burgers (stuffed was their specialty), Your Mom’s Burger Bar on Airport is announcing their closing.

For those of you who have followed Eric’s Search for the Best Burger Joint in Austin series, you know that Your Mom’s has held their place near the top of the list through it all. We’re sorry to see our friends shut their doors, but we wish them all the best in the future. Here’s an open letter from the owners, Ryan and Gina, who want to say some words as they go:

Dear Your Mom’s Family,

We want to start out with letting you know that we truly do think of our customers as family! We have cherished serving you for the past 6 years…but it’s time for “Mom” to move on. So sorry!

We started Your Mom’s on a dime and a dream. It all started (in true Austin fashion) when we pawned music equipment to afford rent and inventory to start out in a small kitchen above Headhunter’s. Later we sold all of our belongings and downsized by moving our 3 kids (we have 4 kids now!) and two dogs (RIP!) to Pecan Grove in our RV to be able to afford upgrading to our location in East Austin and later moved to our location at Airport Blvd. We’ve sacrificed a lot. A lot of time away from our kids, money, etc. But it was worth it. We enjoyed the experience and meeting all of you!

We’ll miss you!

It’s no secret we’ve had our fair share of growing pains (which we painstakingly kept abreast of on Yelp) and we did what we could, when we could, to improve it as we went. We truly do appreciate all of you taking the time to care enough to let us know how you felt. And we love and appreciate all of you who came in regularly, regardless of our imperfections, to get your stuffed burger fix!

We are proud of what we’ve accomplished, but we are ready to start a new chapter in our lives. One with a career that allows us to focus on our kids/family and live a stress-free life! We are craving simplicity and time with our kids… and those things just don’t go hand in hand with the restaurant industry!

We’ve assigned our lease to a great new group. Very nice people and we think you’ll love them. We wish them HUGE success!

Thank you again to all of our customers (family) over the years. We love you all! Live happy!

Love always,
Your Mom’s
(aka Ryan & Gina)
