You know what’s even crazier about this shot of Big Air? People actually ride down this thing. I had a hard time looking over it.
For four days and three nights, X Games landed on Circuit of The Americas like an adrenaline soaked blanket. Fast action, crazy tricks and unbelievable music filled the early June air with energy and fun.
If you couldn’t make it this year, here are our favorite moments in photos from X Games Austin 2015.
Thursday
While practices ran at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) all day, the weekend’s fun kicked off in grand style Thursday evening. Moto X Step Up was featured downtown, in front of the Capitol on 11th and South Congress. Fans gathered, noshed at food trucks and watched a small sample of the competition to come.

Riders have to hit a vertical jump from a near standstill. Much harder than it looks!

Think of Moto X Step Up as pole vaulting with a motorcycle. That’s about right.
Friday
With the introductions out of the way, X Games kicked off Friday with a full slate of awesome events. Those who started the weekend early got treated to BMX Vert, Skateboard Vert and the first set of events at Big Air.
While Nicki Minaj closed out the day musically, local fans were treated with a wide variety of ATX acts like A Giant Dog and Bright Light Social Hour.

Sorry, sir. No amount of arm flapping will save you if you don’t land this trick.

Saturday
The middle of the weekend brought the biggest acts, the craziest events and the largest crowds. Skateboarding took center stage with Vert, Park and Street events while acts like Residual Kid, The Digital Wild and Talib Kweli entertained those brave enough to weather the brutal heat. The night culminated with an epic performance by Metallica on the Super Stage.

Look Ma! No…ground?

Ready to feel old? This kid is probably in high school. Whew….

What’s more metal than James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett of Metallica playing the national anthem in the middle of a dirt track? I say nothing.

This can end in one of two ways: very, very good or very, very bad
Sunday
After the adrenaline fueled madness of Saturday, Sunday was the cool down. Off Road Truck racing was the main draw as Moto X Best Whip closed out the weekend’s events. Musically, ATX’ers like The Happen Ins and A. Sinclair closed the festival in style. A fantastic end to a wicked weekend.

I’m with you, sir. If I were that high up, I’d grab onto my board for dear life, too.

Following up BMX Big Air (awww…I feel Morgan Wade was robbed of gold, even if Colton Satterfield’s final ride was incredible) with Metallica was AMAZING!
