With every bar, restaurant, and venue closed for the foreseeable future, the local music landscape may seem bleak. But don’t fear, music lover! Many of our top artists are still playing to the masses via the World Wide Web. Whether it’s on Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube, catching your favorite Austin artist is only a click away. Support them however you can and keep listening local!
Black Fret Presents Love & Lightstream
Daily all weekend – visit blackfret.org for the stream link
For the next three days, Black Fret will be live streaming from 4 to 10 p.m. While the day’s lineup is kept secret, over the past two days I caught sets from Tomar & the FC’s, Barbara Nesbitt, Croy and the Boys, and a ton of others.
Between sets produced live at Scholz Garten, Black Fret shows incredible live clips from past and current grant nominees and winners. A rad way to spend a few hours: checking out the local music we love.
Ray Prim
Thursday, March 19, 2020 @ 8 p.m. – Facebook page
Yeah, we love ourselves some Ray Prim. A stunning soulman/folk troubadour/R&B crooner, Mr. Prim is a force of personality both on record and live. Expect a highly entertaining stream filled with rad music and hilarious conversation. Take it from someone who’s spent more than a few minutes with Ray. He’s the man.
Trouble in the Streets
Thursday, March 19, 2020 @ 8 p.m. – Facebook event and stream page
From the first time I saw Trouble in the Streets spank a crowded Mohawk inside set, I knew they were the truth. Inspiring rock/hip hop plugged into a electronic power source that’s impossible to ignore. I have no clue what to expect from the group’s Thursday virtu-concert, but it’s sure to be explosive. And if you’re checking out Ray at the same, just flip back and forth!
Sydney Wright
Saturday, March 21, 2020 @ 8 p.m. – Facebook event
A pop/indie queen with incredible range and talent, Sydney Wright is sure to project positive energy and musical prowess with her Saturday night “CoVid-eo Show.” Request a song; put some virtual bucks in the tip jar; and celebrate a newly minted Black Fret grant nominee doing her thing in the most intimate of settings.
