1950’s Soda Fountain Lives on at Nau’s Enfield Drug in Austin

Nau's Enfield Drug Soda Fountain in Austin

I have a soft spot for old school, greasy spoons, so a visit to Nau’s Enfield Drug in Clarksville was a must. This neighborhood drug store, soda fountain and grill has around since 1951. It’s definitely a throwback to simpler times with its U-shaped counter, pink stools and retro booths which barely fit four people.

I highly recommend you step back in time with a breakfast or lunch stop at Nau’s Enfield Drug. [Read more…]

Josephine House Outdoor Patio

Monday Steak Frites Night takes place on Josephine House’s back patio

Updated July 25, 2016

This is Josephine House, a delightful Clarksville gem with one of the best brunches in all of Austin (or anywhere, for that matter).

As the little sister of Jeffrey’s, Josephine House has quite a reputation to uphold. My first thought as I walked through the door was that if the food lived up to the aesthetic, then I was in love. [Read more…]

Austin Coffee Shop Hunt #3: Caffe Medici

May 22, 2012 by Dustin Vegas Leave a Comment

Caffe Medici is a local Austin coffee shop that has succeeded through its customer loyalty. This place has been recommended to me more times than any other coffee shop. Since the majority of the recommendations were positive, I decided to place it high on my list of shops to check out. Here is what I found out:

Founded in 2006, Caffe Medici opened up shop with a Clarksville location. The company was started with a simple mission: be responsive to customers, their neighborhood and the environment. Customers quickly began to appreciate Caffe Medici for its myriad of available coffee styles. You can get anything from an espresso, to drip coffee, French press, or latte. Moreover, the employees of Caffe Medici take the time to study each type of coffee so they can explain and customize for their customers. Soon, however, Caffe Medici’s reputation outgrew its small seating capacity. It was time to grow. [Read more…]
