Located in San Marcos, 40 miles south of Austin, stands a 10-barrel brewpub by the name of Middleton Brewing. It’s one of those places you’re grateful to stumble upon, worth a trip on its own.
Middleton Brewing has 15 styles of beer, all crafted with pride and served in the most friendly manner. Patron-friendly, dog-friendly, kid-friendly. The whole aesthetic oozes relaxation and quality chill-time. Coming in for a visit solo? No problem. Looking to learn more about how a certain type of beer is made? Check. Wanting to celebrate any event at all with friends and family? This is the place.
As you can tell, I’m a big fan. Here are the reasons!
Middleton Brewing’s Beer
At Middleton Brewing, the motto is, “Where beer is brewed, no evil can exist.” After spending an afternoon sipping on the medal-winning creations, you’ll likely feel the same way. One of my favorite things about Middleton are the names they come up with for the beers. “Wit or Wit Out You,” “The Bourbon Barrel Funk” and “Black Lab Porter” are sure to put a smile on your face when ordering and drinking.
Middleton Brewing’s Live Music
Friday through Sunday, there’s live music to make the afternoons even more delightful. And if you’re up for an adventure, head down on a Monday for Open Mic Night. Local singer-songwriters seem to love playing here.
Slingin’ Sliders Food Trailer
Middleton’s lovely food trailer companion, Slingin’ Sliders, is located right outside the brewery doors. Sliders are stellar with beer, especially when they’re super fresh and made to order. Menu items include chicken parmesan, portabello mushroom, pulled pork and bacon burger sliders. Two of these, plus spiral-cut fried potato chips, make the perfect meal if you ask me.
Middleton Brewing’s People
Middleton Brewing just celebrated their fifth anniversary as a brewpub. The staff members love to take care of their beer fanatics, and really anyone who walks through the doors. No one is a stranger here.
When you visit, plan to stay a while. Dog lovers they certainly are, so bring a pup and enjoy a sunny day outside on the patio. Just take it all in and have yourself a beautiful afternoon.
