Here are a few awesome things to do with Pops this Father’s Day:
#1: Deep Eddy Pool Movie Night: The Goonies
Now this is the way to kick off a Father’s Day weekend. Deep Eddy Pool is the oldest swimming hole in Texas, having been formed from part of the Colorado River in 1915. Long story short: it’s been an Austin icon and pastime every since.
Since Deep Eddy is Austin’s original way to beat the heat, its organizers are now offering movie nights during the summer. This Saturday (note: not Sunday, which is Father’s Day), Deep Eddy will be showing the American classic The Goonies. The show starts at dusk, so the weather will be just cooling down as you and your dad float about and enjoy the film. This is one of the most unique and fun movie-watching experiences your dad may ever have!

Head to Deep Eddy Pool at 401 Deep Eddy Ave. The film begins at dusk. The admissions price is only $1-3, depending on age.
#2: Racing Expo – Formula One Grand Prix
Look for this and other Lotuses at the expo!
With the 2012 U.S. Grand Prix Formula One race looming on Austin’s horizon, now is the perfect time for you and your dad to get into high-speed racing. Luckily, the Formula Expo event will be in town this weekend. It’s the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with wickedly-fast cars and famous drivers. This year’s event will feature cars by Ferrari, Lotus and many more. There will be a ton of stuff to do during the event as well, including an opportunity to race in an F1 race simulator!
When, Where and What’s the Cost?
The Expo is this weekend – June 16th and 17th. Check it out at the Austin Convention Center, 500 East Cesar Chavez Street. Tickets are $15 a day, available online.
#3: The Hartman Foundation’s “Concert in the Park”
This concert is the perfect way to wind down the day. Every Sunday this summer, The Hartman Family Foundation is offering a free sit-down concert for the Austin public. It’s been going on every Father’s Day for ten years, and the turnout is always large. The Austin Symphony’s woodwind Ensemble is scheduled to perform this year.
What better way to end Father’s Day than with your family, as the sun sets and the Austin symphony plays some of mankind’s best music?

The concert starts at The Long Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. The address is 701 W. Riverside Dr., on the corner of Riverside and South 1st. And it’s free!
