Red Horn Coffee House and Brewing Co. Opens in Cedar Park

Coffee. Beer. Good vibes. This is the mantra of Red Horn Coffee House and Brewing Co. and I stand behind it.

As I walked up to the brewpub on an overcast morning, I could smell beer brewing in the breeze. It was early, so I got a latte, but you can bet I’ll be back for a beer soon. Cedar Park needs a place like this and I’m happy it’s finally here.

The heart and soul of Red Horn Coffee House and Brewing Company lies in owners Chad Misner and Jon Lamb, along with part owner and head brewer Zack Gardner and coffee connoisseur Jered Hill. I was able to meet all these friendly guys on this breezy morning, and they were happy to show me around less than a week after opening. They take pride in being locally owned and owner-operated, and do business with one simple mission: Do good. Be positive. Have fun.

Red Horn Coffee House and Brewing Company offers top-notch coffee that’s roasted in-house along with an impressive 32 beer taps, many of which hold local and specialty beers you won’t find anywhere nearby. They currently offer sandwiches and salads at lunchtime. Meat and cheese boards, pita and hummus, desserts and baked goods make up their all day menu.

In such a relaxing place, from the friendly attitudes of the staff to the modern wood and brick decor, I couldn’t help but feel at home here. It almost made me regret not bringing my laptop so I could get some work done in this laid back environment. Still, I sipped on my latte – excellent, by the way – and soaked it in while I could.

While talking with owner Chad Misner, we touched on why his team chose to establish Red Horn in the Greater Austin area. “Like most people, we love Austin, but up here in the suburbs sometimes that Austin feel is missing,” he shared. “We wanted it to be in our own backyard and where we hang out when we’re not working…We stumbled upon this location and couldn’t be happier.”

Head brewer Zack Gardner was also kind enough to give me some of his time, and we spoke about the location’s beers and when they would be available for customers to enjoy. “We’re hoping to have all five of our beers online in early April: Coffee Stout, Red Ale, Blonde, IPA and a Texas Brown,” Gardner said. “Those will be our five house mainstays and then we’ll be throwing in some rotational, seasonal brews for fun.”

I, for one, can’t wait to try the house beers from Red Horn Coffee House and Brewing Company. There’s good beer production popping up all around Austin, and it’s exciting to see the trend sprawling out to Cedar Park and beyond. I think Red Horn has earned a warm welcome from Cedar Park and will become a staple for the surrounding community.
