6 Refreshing Mojitos to Beat the Heat in Austin

September 4, 2018 by Samantha Saenz Leave a Comment

Best Mojitos in Austin at Hula Hut

You won’t find a better view or mojito than at The Hula Hut on Lake Austin

Austinites love margaritas, but it’s time we talk about the perfect patio sipper we’ve all been neglecting…the mojito.

You just can’t go wrong with this rum, mint, and lime cocktail that hails from the Caribbean! So go on and give your palate a break from the marg with these six mojitos in Austin, sure to save you from the scorching Texas heat.

Thank you to the bars and restaurants featured in this article for allowing me to sample their drinks at no charge. All opinions are my own.

Best Classic Mojitos in Austin

Enjoy a mojito made with the traditional five ingredients (or fewer).

Choose between Bacardi Superior, Limon, or Razz rums, and then let your bartender combine that with mint and lime juice. You’ll be instantly transported to a tropical island.

2/ Irene’s

Mojito Cocktail at Irene's in Austin

Find your place in the sun with a tasty cocktail at Irene’s

Irene’s gets everything right, and the mojito is no exception. This restaurant keeps the drink simple by muddling mint and combining it with Flor de Cana four-year rum, mint-infused syrup, and club soda to create a refreshing cocktail that rivals the ones I’ve sipped in Havana, Cuba.

3/ Salt Traders Coastal Cooking

Salt Traders Coastal Cooking is putting the lime in the coconut alright (the coconut mojito, to be exact). “Drink ’em both together” in this cooling alcoholic beverage made with Rum Haven Coconut Rum, Treaty Oak Rum, mint, lime, raw sugar, and soda.

Enjoy Cookbook’s pink-hued mojito

Enjoy the Last of the Mojitos at Cookbook, the cafe located within Austin Central Library. This cocktail features rum, muddled mint, simple syrup, and pomegranate juice to keep things as interesting as the French and Indian War.

6/ Hula Hut

Hula Hut Mojito in Austin

It doesn’t get any better than mint, lime, and fresh strawberries at Hula Hut

“Tropic like it’s hot!” is Hula Hut’s unofficial slogan, which you’ll find printed on t-shirts at the Lake Austin restaurant and bar. This is no doubt a sunny, waterside oasis. So if you need a break from urban life, head in to soak in the island vibes, and wash it all down with a traditional or strawberry coconut mojito. The latter is made with vibrant berries and muddled mint.
