It’s literally impossible to run out of things to do in Austin, but every once in a while it’s nice to get a change of scenery.
Lucky for Austin locals, Texas Hill Country and beyond is full of natural treasures, unique shopping options, and entertaining locations and events.
Rather than making you do all the research on your own, the Austinot Podcast presents 3 Top Daytrip Picks.
Listen as Eric and Brittany give you the skinny on…
- Gruene, TX – an old Texas town thriving with unique shops and shoe-tapping Texas tunes.
- Natural Bridge Caverns – a beautiful natural wonder that you have to see to believe. (Click HERE to read about our visit to the Caverns.)
- Hamilton Pool Nature Preserve – a tropical paradise that you’d never believe is a short drive from Austin.
the Austinot asks:
Do you have any daytrip ideas we need to check out?

Cute Podcast. I moved here recently and I can tell you’ll be very helpful. Are you aware of the Austin Mini Maker Faire? (austinmakerfaire.com)
Hi Michelle, thanks for checking out our podcast. Someone had mentioned the mini-maker faire to us briefly, but never really gave us any info about it. We’ll have to look into it. Thanks for the reminder, and thanks for following us on the Austinot! – Eric
I don’t live in Austin, but love visiting. However, what about Wimberley, Tx? It’s closer than Gruene, Tx & they also have the cutest shops. We went there during Spring Break & loved Ino’z restaurant, shopping in the shops, art exhibits, Wimberley Glassworks (blown glass), Mount Baldy, & we had sooo much fun zipling at Wimberley Zipline Adventures as well!
Michelle I think you just became my favorite Austinot fan of the day! We are ALWAYS looking for ideas and places to visit and you my friend have just added Wimberly to that list for us. Have you joined us on facebook yet? If not, please do! http://facebook.com/theAustinot – Eric
Loved the Podcast! My absolute favorite day trip is out to Enchanted Rock- have you been?
So glad you liked the podcast! I have been to Enchanted Rock, though it was many years ago. Sounds like another great idea to blog about though. Unless someone beats me to it. ~grin~ – Eric
We love to take the kids out to Sweet Berry Farm in Marble Falls to pick fresh fruit…and then grab lunch in town. The drive out there is beautiful, too!
This is something we’ve been wanting to do, Amanda! Unfortunately, I think we missed the berries this year.
How about Blanco, and more specifically Market Day at the historic Courthouse? Check it out at AustinCinnaMan.wordpress.com
@teamcinnaman:disqus, we’ve only been to Blanco State Park in Blanco, but this looks like a lot of fun! Thank you for sharing!
