I select dining spots based on a specific criteria: which genre(s) of food will be served, whether there are gluten-free options available, price point, and, above all, what type of views they offer.
My sentiment is this: If I wanted to enjoy dinner while staring directly at a shrub, wall, or some combination of both, then I’d throw a quick meal together and eat on my back porch.
Fortunately, the following eight Austin restaurants boast views that are spectacular. Paired with a delectable selection of sustenance, they offer a delightful experience all-around.
Best Austin Restaurants With A View
1/ Oasis Restaurant
Rather than saving the best for last, I’m going against the grain and commencing this list with a spot that arguably possesses one of the most spectacular views in Texas (AND is my personal favorite): Oasis Restaurant. Every square inch of outdoor patio essentially serves as an observation deck, and the breathtaking views of Lake Travis easily span miles. Grab a drink, or five, and spend the entire afternoon here.

2/ County Line on the Hill
Austin is loved for its mouthwatering barbecue and picturesque rolling hills. County Line on the Hill provides restaurant-goers with both. Whether it’s girls’ night out, or you’re trying to impress out-of-towners, this idyllic vista should not be missed.

3/ Hula Hut
Come to Hula Hut for the views, but stay for the sweeping selection of fare this lakeside eatery has to dish up. The place can get a tad bit crowded on certain nights, so be sure to arrive early in the evening to secure prime seating for Mother Nature’s big show (yes, I’m referring to the sunset).

4/ Ski Shores Cafe
A hidden gem located on Lake Austin, Ski Shores Cafe offers patrons a laid-back ambience and a tiny slice of the true Austin lifestyle. This is the perfect place to kick back with a few friends, enjoy countless amounts of breakfast tacos, and bask in the beauty of your surroundings.

5/ Iron Cactus – Downtown
Adjacent to bustling Sixth Street, Iron Cactus restaurant touts traditional Mexican dishes, over 75 different tequilas, and a top floor patio that provides diners with a bird’s-eye view of the downtown area. Plan your next Sixth Street outing from the comfort of your dinner table, or simply engage in some good, old-fashioned people-watching— the choice is yours.

6/ The Grove Wine Bar & Kitchen – Lakeway
Brunch is more than just a meal; it’s a way of life. That being said, the only thing better than brunch is brunch with an ethereal view. If you ever, for even a second, doubted Austin’s unparalleled beauty, then the views at The Grove Wine Bar & Kitchen – Lakeway (not to be confused with the downtown or Westlake locations) will quell those thoughts immediately. Well-known for an extensive selection of wines, The Grove also serves lunch and dinner throughout the day.
