As 2013 rolls to a close tonight, Austinites are prepping their best outfits to welcome the new year in style. In a city like ours, there is no shortage of bashes and events to enjoy tonight.
But what about us procrastinators who haven’t lined up a venue yet? 2013 came and went quickly, so you may not have had the chance. Don’t worry! The Austinot is here with three last minute Austin New Year’s Eve ideas. Check them out and let us know what you think!
Light Show at Mozart’s
Light shows are one of the best parts of the holiday season. If you’re looking for a fun, relaxed way to ring in the new year, go enjoy the lights at Mozart’s on Lake Austin. The famous coffee house is putting on their annual light show now through January 5th. It’s a great destination for families and first dates. Take a look at the video below to see what I mean.
Dinner and Fireworks Cruise
Every year, the City of Austin puts on an amazing firework display. There is a problem, though. It seems that every single Austinite wants to see the show. This means tons of traffic and crowded vantage points for hours before the fireworks go up.
Here is an opportunity to avoid the crowds and still get a great view of the show. Join Lone Star Riverboats for a 3-meat BBQ dinner and a champagne toast on the lake. Letting Lone Star Riverboats set your night up right means you’ll be free to enjoy the fireworks without any hassle.
Did I mention that the cruise is BYOB? Grab some friends and head to the south shore of Lady Bird Lake near the First Street Bridge! The ride starts at 9:30 PM and is $50/person, plus tax. Space is limited, so I recommend you call soon to reserve your spot.
Spider House NYE Bash
The Spider House Cafe has been an Austin icon for decades. Every year, they put on an impressive New Year’s Eve event with music, drinks, food and more. This year is no different!
Local art will be displayed throughout the large Spider House compound. Since the cafe has always supported Austin artists, you’re sure to see some of the best art in the city today. Beyond the art, Spider House will also roll out three DJs and six live bands throughout the night. The musical lineup will have a little something for everybody. We’re talking about folk rock by the Marmalakes to electro dance from Holiday Mountain and some soul music by T Bird and the Breaks.
The party at Spider House will be rocking all night long. You can fuel yourself from one of the many food trucks that will be scattered throughout the party! Stay until midnight for a champagne toast as you watch the ball drop. If you’re looking for a fun, young and energetic way to bring in the new year, this is your party! Tickets are only $25.
