Do you crave ice cream all year, no matter the weather? Then you’re in luck! Lick Honest Ice Creams has launched a holiday flavor menu in tune with the flavors and feelings of the season.
These wintry flavors are reminiscent of cozy nights by the fire with loved ones, family gatherings, or treating yourself to ice cream after an active day outdoors. You know I take my blog writing seriously, so I assure you I tasted each of these flavors to better share them with you!
Without further ado, here are the winter 2019 flavors from Lick Honest Ice Creams!
1/ Red Velvet
Lick’s first foray into this ubiquitous flavor rings true. If you love red velvet cakes and cupcakes, then you’ll dig Lick’s version. The flavor fairies kick the usual red velvet flavor profile up a notch by folding red velvet cake into a decadent vanilla cream cheese base.
2/ Spiced Orange and Cream
Spiced orange and cream takes a childhood favorite flavor profile (Dreamsicle) and does what Lick does best: adds local ingredients and a little twist. Locally-sourced orange, pear, and clove jams come together to add a holiday feeling. This is one of my favorites of the seasonal flavors this year.
3/ Winter Mint and Chocolate (Vegan)
Minty fresh and vegan, what makes this flavor extra special are the bits of local, dark SRSLY Chocolate mixed into a minty base. I love the subtle coconut taste that dances on the tongue with the mint and chocolate flavors.
4/ Coconut Cake (Vegan)
Coconuts on coconuts on coconuts here! This miraculously vegan and gluten-free ice cream has toasted coconut and coconut cake in a base of coconut ice cream. Highly recommended, unless you don’t care for coconut, in which case, move along, pal, there’s nothing to see here.
5/ Butterscotch Pecan Blondie
- Housemade brown butter blondies
- Toasted pecans
- Spirit of Texas Pecan Street rum-spiked butterscotch ice cream
- Need I say more?
6/ Candied Pecan and Bourbon
Remember that cozy night by the fireplace we were talking about? This is the one. Lick marries Texas pecans candied in brown sugar and cardamom with Good Flow Honey, and Garrison Brothers bourbon-flavored ice cream.
You can have your visions of sugar plums. I’ll be dreaming of this ridiculously yummy ice cream.
7/ Iced Sugar Cookie
Classic sugar cookies with cream cheese icing (made from San Antonio-based Mother Culture cream cheese) are folded into a base of the ever-delightful sweet cream ice cream. It tastes exactly like it sounds, luckily for us.
8/ Orange Chocolate
G&S Groves oranges from the Texas Valley join forces with SRSLY chocolate for an ice cream you can take home to Mama. Seriously, you’ll get brownie points if you take some home to Mama–to anyone’s Mama.
9/ Peppermint Bark
If you’re like me, then you have a love-hate relationship with peppermint bark. I hate when we have it at home because I love it so much I can’t keep my grubby little paws off of it. This ice cream is exactly that tempting, but with SRSLY Chocolate Dirty White Chocolate, fresh mint ice cream, chocolate chips, and crunchy peppermint candy.
10/ Too Hot Chocolate
Oh, Staaahp, Lick. You had me at “hot chocolate.” But no, you had to go add SRLY Chocolate, cayenne, chipotle, cinnamon, and Good Flow Honey? Oh, and vanilla bean marshmallows, too? How is that even fair?
11/ Spiked Eggnog
Another quintessential winter flavor, Lick’s spiked eggnog ice cream surpasses all other contenders by using San Antonio’s Dorćol Distilling’s award-winning Kinsman apricot rakia brandy. Smooth move, Lick Honest Ice Creams, smooth move!
12/ Carmelita (Vegan)
Another winner for the vegans among us, this flavor takes a local, vegan take on Carmelita bars with SRSLY chocolate, vegan caramel, and streusel. These geniuses then crumble vegan Carmelita bars into oat ice cream (contains peanuts).
Get Them While They Last
Now I’m only upset I didn’t buy a whole pint when I was on my tasting foray into the latest flavors. I’m also thinking how cool it would be to spend a day in Lick Honest Ice Creams’ test kitchen! I mean, the flavors they come up with! The ingredients! The dedication to Texas-local love!
The only negative thing about seasonal flavors is, well, they’re seasonal. Of course, this short shelf life is part of their appeal, too. If any of these flavors made you drool a little bit (we won’t tell anyone), then hightail it over to your nearest Lick Honest Ice Creams and try them!
