A Christmas Carol at Zach Theatre: 3 Reasons to See It Now

I was first introduced to A Christmas Carol in 6th grade. I wish I could say I enjoyed reading the book, but the exact opposite was true. I was more concerned with the response to my “Will You Go Out With Me?” note than with Ebeneezer Scrooge’s epiphany.

Fast forward 15 years to A Christmas Carol at Zach Theatre. I left the show wishing it had been my first introduction to Dickens. The musical adaptation, playing until December 28, 2014, was captivating and full of energy.

Last Minute Things to Do on Christmas Eve in Austin

Posted on December 24, 2013 by Matthew Champion

If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably be out scrambling for gifts today and won’t have time for many of the things on this list. But if your Christmas errands are complete and you find yourself and the extended family with some free time, you may want to have a look. They offer a variety of unique gifts from local artists, plus live music from local artists (Jitterbug Vipers go on at 3:30 PM today and they are fantastic). And, of course, beer. [Read more…]

Santa’s Ranch Christmas Light Tour in Texas

Posted on January 19, 2012 by Brittany Highland

Santas-Ranch-Christmas-Lights-TexasOn Christmas Eve before setting out the milk and cookies, we took a drive south on I-35 to experience Santa’s Ranch.

Santa’s Ranch is located one exit south of the San Marcos outlet malls, so it’s a pretty quick drive from Austin.

We got there early and parked in line on the service road outside the Ranch. By the time the gate opened, there was a long line of vehicles behind us, waiting to get in.

For the $22 per vehicle admission, we got a huge treat! We drove through nearly a mile of dirt road, past countless Christmas light scenes that were entertaining and imaginative. Believe it or not, there are over one million Christmas lights displayed in over 100 scenes and animations! [Read more…]
