Save on Food and Drink During Austin’s Bike to Eat Week

May 28, 2012 by Brittany Highland Leave a Comment

Little boy bicycling in AustinHow would you like to save 10% off a meal, just for riding your bike to a local Austin restaurant? I’m happy to report that Austin’s first annual Bike-to-Eat Week lets you do just that!

Through this Thursday, ride your bike to any of 25 participating locations to receive a discount on food and alcohol. To get your discount, you may be required to show that you arrived by bike.

This program is designed to support the cycling community in Austin, and encourage you to ride your bicycle. Besides a cheaper meal, you’ll get stronger legs and a stronger cardiovascular system out of the deal. And, of course, you’ll lessen your environmental impact by riding instead of driving.

Here is the full list of participating locations:

  • Aster’s Ethiopian Restaurant
  • BikeCaffe Austin
  • Contigo
  • East Side Pies (Rosewood)
  • Frank
  • Home Slice
  • Ice Cream Social
  • Jo’s
  • Juice Box/Soup Peddler
  • The NATY (6 food trailers)
  • Mother’s Cafe and Garden
  • NeWorld Cafe
  • NeWorlDeli
  • Pars Deli
  • Ruby’s BBQ
  • Salty Sow
  • Tacodeli (Lamar)
  • Tacodeli (Spyglass)
  • Tacodeli (Burnet)
  • TNT Tacos and Tequila!
Home Slice Pizza on South Congress in Austin

Home Slice Pizza in SoCo is one of the participating locations

There is also a participation-based raffle you can enter via Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. For more info, visit the Bike-to-Eat Week website and click on the “Raffle” tab. The website also has a map with bike-friendly routes to the participating Austin restaurants.

Organizers are hoping that this year’s Bike-to-Eat Week will be the first of many, and that it will spread beyond Austin next year. If you support this event and this cause, get out your bike and take part!

@QuasiBrit asks:

What do you think about Bike-to-Eat Week? Do you think you’ll participate?
