Have you ever been to a gun range without any bullets? How about an archery range where you can practice your hunting and marksmanship skills within hundreds of different scenarios?

Whether you’re a trained shooter sharpening your skills or a gun newbie wanting to try a range for the first time, there’s something for you at Safe Range. Located in Round Rock, Safe Range uses real guns, modified to work without ammunition. These guns combine with laser technology to create a fun, safe and realistic shooting experience.

Safe Range is a great place for target practice, allowing visitors to perfect their aim within a number of scenarios. In addition to virtual shooting range practice, Safe Range has a number of different training simulations with a high degree of realism. For those who want to experiment, there are also simulations with less realism and more entertainment value, like zombie hunting! The business also has shooting lessons for all ages.

The cost to shoot is normally $25 per person. The cost is $20 per person before 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and before noon on the weekends. For the entry price, visitors receive 45 minutes with a SIRT (Shot Indicating Resetting Trigger) pistol. These training pistols are designed to complement live fire training and help pinpoint any errors in form.

For an additional $10 per person, you can upgrade to real guns that are modified for simulation. These guns use CO2 magazines to simulate the real kickback of firing. Safe Range has several gun types to choose from, including a Glock 19, six shooter and AR-15.

If you’re more Robin Hood than Billy the Kid, Safe Range has archery, too. You can bring your own bow or rent one of theirs. All of the arrows have blunt tips and are shot into a large screen made of a trampoline-like fabric. Lasers behind the screen record exactly where the arrow tip lands.

Much like the virtual shooting range, the archery range has hundreds of different simulations to try. If you’re planning to hunt game with bow and arrow, you can practice different scenarios you might encounter. You can practice shooting traditional game like bears, or more oddball objects like a giant praying mantis.

Safe Range offers archery lessons from champion archers. There’s also competition and league play, an opportunity to make some new friends. As with the shooting range, the cost to shoot is $25 per person, or $20 before 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and before noon on the weekends. Bows are available for rent at $10 each. First-time archers are required to take a short orientation.

Why a Safe Range?

The lack of ammunition at Safe Range has its advantages. Parents can use it to practice gun safety with young children. Safe Range even hosts children’s birthday parties. They can remove some of the scarier scenarios like zombie hunting from the list, on request.

Safe Range is also an option for company team-building activities, so you can find out who on your team has the best shot. Stay tuned for new date night promotions coming soon.
