Whiskey Lovers Need This Milam & Greene Distillery Edition Straight Bourbon

Breaking Texas whiskey news! Our friends at Milam & Greene have just launched their super limited, grain-to-glass, Distillery Edition Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

Three years in the making, it’s a show stopper, a true culmination of years of brewing, distilling, and blending. Starting August 22, 2020, you can secure your reservation for a bottle on their website for pickup at their Blanco Distillery.

Note: Thanks to Provision Spirits for sending me a complimentary bottle for the purposes of this review. All opinions are my own.

We have long been fans of Milam & Greene, and this new release confirms our own bias. It is lightning, magic, honey, spice, and Texas in a bottle. I’m biased, but I mean every word.

Beautiful and lush with structure and personality… a huge celebration of everything we’ve been working on.

Heather Greene, Milam & Greene CEO and Blender

The making of this whiskey was as deliberate as it gets. Founder Marsha Milam chose her team wisely, luring some of the best in the game at each step along the whiskey-making path.

Key Ingredients

The first team member was Jordan Osborne, master of the mash, brewer extraordinaire. Jordan states, “When we started the distillation in August 2017, we were able to dial in the recipe pretty quick. We wanted to come up with a product that could stand up on its own two feet, compete with some of the best bourbon out there. We wanted to have something rich, robust, that had some of those classic bourbon flavors but also something different about it, something Texasesque, if you will.”

Next came master distiller Marlene Holmes with her decades of experience making whiskey for one of the biggest brands around. Marlene’s Kentucky upbringing adds to her innate sense about whiskey. She and Jordan literally are able to separate the wheat from the chaff going in.

Good Stuff In, Good Stuff Out

Marlene explains, “We’ve got procedures that we follow day in and day out. If you put crap in a barrel, you’re gonna get crap coming out. We have good stuff going into our barrels, starting with our grain and our mash,”

As Milam & Greene founder says, “This is the dream we have had all along. We hope people realize what we have in this team.”

This wonderful 121.9 proof bourbon is a robust, rich, complex whiskey that all collectors and whiskey lovers will want to try. You can actually taste the layers. I enjoy whiskey a lot, but I don’t always catch all the layers. Yet, Milam & Greene’s Distillery Edition Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a layered expression of grain-to-glass whiskey that even a novice like me can appreciate.

The high-powered barrel proof lets you know what you’re dealing with, yet showcases more flavor than burn. It hits all the familiar notes but still tastes like a true original.

Due to the limited run, you can only purchase this special bottle of bourbon at the Milam & Greene distillery in Blanco. This lightning in a bottle will go fast. Collectors and whiskey fans alike will want to get their hands on this excellent Distillery Edition Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

This bourbon is blended from only seven barrels. This means it’s an extremely limited production run, with fewer than 1,500 bottles available for sale. I suggest ordering yours soon if you have to have it! It’s surprisingly smooth for a whiskey with all that power! It is delicious neat, but also leaves room for a splash of water or some ice.

The talented team of whiskey makers and whiskey lovers at Milam & Greene has done it again. I love this whiskey! I think you will, too. Everything Milam & Greene has put out has been a home run in my book.
