Adventure Awaits at Lucky Arrow Retreat, Event Venue in Dripping Springs

Did you know Dripping Springs is designated the wedding capital of Texas? Austin’s quieter neighbor–which also happens to be growing rapidly–is a popular destination to tie the knot. I’m presuming it’s because the rolling hills make for unforgettable scenery, and the numerous wineries and nature parks make for an adventuresome getaway.

Lucky Arrow Retreat, a boutique resort and event venue, is located right in the midst of all the romance and adventure. It’s a beautiful place for a gathering, but you don’t have to get married to plan an event here. The facilities are also ideal for yoga retreats, corporate events, family reunions, and more.

Thank you to Lucky Arrow Retreat for hosting me for a night, for the purposes of this review. All opinions are my own.

The number of opportunities to chill and relax are matched by the opportunities to get out and explore.

If you want to lounge in the pool or beer garden all day, then you got it! If you want to hop in Troopy, the on-site adventure truck, and go for a ride to nearby wineries, barbecue joints, or state parks, then you can do that, too!

Lucky Arrow Retreat has a list of pre-planned excursions, or you can create a custom day trip depending on your interests.

A Vintage Touch

“With plenty of space to accommodate large parties while retaining the intimate feel of a family gathering and a setting that is second to none, your private event will leave your guests with a glow as warm and sweet as the rising sun,” the website describes. Some of the ways Lucky Arrow Retreat adds to the intimate feel include impeccable attention to detail, and the addition of vintage touches here and there.

During my visit, I had the pleasure of staying in one of the Breezeway cabins at the top of the hill. Aptly named, the Breezeway cabins have a cozy bed/bathroom area and a separate living space with a kitchenette. A breezy patio separates the two areas, equipped with a hanging loveseat if you want to swing and contemplate the lovely vista.

The kitchenette has a functional record player, and a selection of records you can pull from the wall and play. The four records on our wall were from The Police, The Beatles, Dire Straits, and Asleep at the Wheel–a perfect mix of worldwide, national, and locally treasured artists.

The Stars at Night Are Big and Bright

As an approved International Dark Sky Community, Lucky Arrow Retreat has an incredible view of the stars. During certain times of the year–summer, especially–you can easily see the Milky Way sprawled across the sky. Since approximately 80 percent of Americans live in places where light pollution drowns out the Milky Way, it’s a special treat to be able to see it.

On July 31, 2019, Lucky Arrow Retreat will host a Black Moon Star Party in collaboration with Starry Sky Austin, an education and outreach program. A telescope will be provided to view the cosmos more closely. The event is free and open to the public.
