WLT Presents One Page Salon & Hope Alliance Fundraiser LIVE WEBINAR

One of Austin’s most beloved reading series – One Page Salon – has gone virtual and teamed up with the Writers’ League of Texas for a series of special monthly events featuring quick readings, feel good fundraising, and lots of literary shenanigans.

In September, we’re partnering with Georgetown’s wonderful indie bookstore, Lark & Owl Booksellers, to raise funds for Hope Alliance. Seriously, this is not to be missed!

One Page Salon (called “the best literary evening in town” by the Austin American-Statesman) is the brainchild of novelist, screenwriter, and comedian Owen Egerton. For this special virtual event, five outstanding authors will read one page from a work in progress – which means the audience will be among the first to hear original new material from these talented writers. The brilliant and funny (and brilliantly funny) Owen Egerton will emcee.

All proceeds from this September event will go to support the organization Hope Alliance. IF YOU’D LIKE TO MAKE A DONATION, simply select the “RSVP + donation” option. If you’d like to donate more than $10 (thank you for considering it!) increase the number from 1 to whatever.

The mission of Hope Alliance is to assist those whose lives have been affected by family and sexual violence by providing safety, services and developing partnerships that lead to hope, healing, and prevention. Their work has become especially urgent of late due to Covid-19.

From Jane Estes, one of the founder’s of Lark & Owl Booksellers, about Hope Alliance: “This is an amazing group and this is a timely topic to support because of the lockdowns/remote working and learning that are happening now, inevitably putting those who were already in danger, in an untenable position. I hope this will help raise awareness to the gravity of this issue, especially as people are impacted by the pandemic. This organization serves the greater Central Texas area, as well as the entire state when needed.”

Of course, we also know that many in our community are experiencing lost wages and work right now and we don’t want this event to be cost prohibitive. If you can’t make a donation this time around, simply select “RSVP + no donation” and you’ll be added to the registration list at no charge, no problem!

Our September readers will be announced shortly.
