After getting our new bikes at The Peddler, we picked up a Yakima Doubledown bike rack from REI. The next step in this long Austin biking adventure? A hitch for our bike rack.
When we get ideas into our heads, we usually want them done fast. This found us desperately calling hitch shops in Austin, TX, early on Saturday morning. The places we called either weren’t open, or they didn’t have the hitch we needed in stock. We couldn’t wait three days. We wanted to get our bikes out to Fredericksburg that day.
Finally, we found a shop that had our hitch in stock: Discount Hitch and Truck Accessories, on Ben White at South Congress. Sweet. Could they get us in for an appointment ASAP? Yes, they could.
We arrived at Discount Hitch and were welcomed in by Josh. We explained as calmly as possible that we would like the job done jiffy-quick because a Hill Country roadtrip was calling our name. Originally, Josh said the installation would take an hour. Once he heard our story, he awesomely offered to get us in right away.
We left Mr. Smite (Eric’s car) at Discount Hitch and walked down the block to grab a bite at Wendy’s. When we returned, the job was done.
Not only did Josh install our hitch with lightning speed, but he actually took our bike rack out of the box and installed it for us! Not only that, but he showed us how to use our new rack!
Here’s the kicker: Even with all the “extras” they did for us, Discount Hitch charged us less than the quotes of any other places we called in town.
Discount Hitch and Truck Accessories definitely went beyond the call of duty. We so appreciate the fast and quality work they did for us, and we definitely recommend them.
And they didn’t pay us to say any of this. We just like to share Discoveries with you.
