Founded in 1963, Challenger School has a long-standing academic reputation, with students consistently scoring in the top 10% on national assessments such as the Iowa Assessment. The summer program reflects this standard through purposeful learning rather than rote review.

Campers revisit core subjects including math, science, literature, and history, alongside art and writing projects that strengthen logical thinking and communication skills.

They are then evaluated through structured academic reviews, reading challenges, and hands-on activities that build confidence and prepare students for a strong start to the upcoming school year.

Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy of North Austin

Kids ’R’ Kids Learning Academy of North Austin brings summer to life through imaginative, themed weekly adventures that transport kids to new “destinations” without ever leaving campus. 

The camp experience is built around immersive themes, with daily activities that include games, creative projects, science experiments, and cultural or animal-focused learning. From erupting volcano experiments to art-and-engineering projects like self-portraits and solar-inspired builds, kids stay engaged through experiences that feel like play but deliver meaningful learning.

Sam’s Adventure Camp

Sam’s Adventure Camp is a highly specialized summer program designed for children with developmental disabilities, blending adventure with clinically guided therapy in a warm, supportive environment. 

Each camper receives up to six hours per day of one-on-one therapeutic support, including occupational, speech, physical, music, art, and aqua therapy. A multidisciplinary team also customizes every activity based on the child’s individual needs, with goals driven by parent input.

Weekly family conferences then ensure progress is reviewed, celebrated, and clearly communicated.

Best suited for children ages 1–17, Sam’s Adventure Camp supports everyone from toddlers in early intervention to teens requiring advanced therapeutic programs. Here, campers build physical strength, communication skills, emotional regulation, confidence, and teamwork through purposeful, therapy-centered activities, delivering real developmental outcomes within an encouraging camp setting.

Steve & Kate’s Camp – Austin

Rather than running on rigid schedules or adult-directed rotations, Steve and Kate’s camp is built around choice. Campers decide how they spend their time, shifting activities as their interests change throughout the day. 

A child might dive into sewing or crochet in the morning, wander into baking later on, and end the day experimenting with stop-motion animation, coding, or music. Others can gravitate toward sports, dance, or maker-style crafts.

Weekly surprises — sometimes playful chaos like pie-throwing — reinforce that this is a place where curiosity leads and fun isn’t scheduled. This philosophy has remained consistent since the camp’s founding in 1980 and across its 40+ locations nationwide, prioritizing independence over structure.

Because of this approach, the camp works especially well for kids who struggle in tightly programmed environments. Over time, campers naturally build confidence, decision-making skills, and resilience, not through instruction, but through ownership of their choices.
