Ice skate on the rooftop of Whole Foods Market, now through Jan. 20, 2020!
Austin ice skating has returned to the rooftop plaza at Whole Foods Market’s flagship store for its 15th season. Enjoy this festive, wintry activity at the landmark location on North Lamar Boulevard between 5th and 6th Streets. It is real ice, so Austinites can relive childhood memories or introduce their own children to this strange, frozen substance we don’t see much of in Austin.
Admission to Ice Skating on the Plaza is $12 in advance or $15 at the door per person, including ice skate rental. The skating rink is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
Every Monday from 6-8 p.m., half of ticket sales will be donated to a local Austin charity.
Special Holiday Hours
The ice skating rink has special hours for the upcoming holidays:
- Christmas Eve: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Christmas Day: Closed
- New Years Eve: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- New Years Day: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Now’s the time to visit, if you want to avoid the crowds from school letting out and family coming into town. Purchasing your ticket in advance will also give you priority access to the rink.
Thanks to CultureMap Rooftop Rink at Whole Foods Market, we get to enjoy a slice of winter wonderland in Austin this year!

@theAustinot wants to know:
Where do you like to ice skate in Austin?
Tam Francis: Jitterbug typer says
Did they enlarge it, or is it still fairly small? It is definitely more fun for non-skater and beginners!
Brittany Highland says
Yeah, I hear that. I don’t think it’s meant for triple axles. ? I’d recommend our friends at Chaparral Ice–also a cool local business–for seasoned skaters who want some more room! http://austinot.wpengine.com/chaparral-ice-skating-austin
