Claim your share of $50,000 in a worldwide scavenger hunt during SXSW! It is pretty simple to participate, and this post will help you PWN the competition!
The scavenger hunt is put on by Freelancer.com. But before you go jumping to their site, read on for some quick tips to help you get ahead before it even starts.
I’ll be providing some good info on how you can get a leg up on the competition in this post.
But first, the basics:
- Sign up and create a team
- Complete as many tasks as possible
- Team with the most points wins
Here are the prizes:
- Grand Prize: $25,000
- Second Place: $10,000
- Third Place: $5,000
Also there will be ten $1,000 daily prizes.
Now for the inside scoop on how you can get a leg up on your competition:
- There are easily over 100 tasks in the scavenger hunt. They take place all over the world, so build an international team if you can. The more locations, the better.
- Keep a smartphone handy! Some of the tasks involve taking photos, video and providing text-based answers. A smartphone may be your best friend during the scavenger hunt.
- You’ll need to create a team logo and a team name. So start thinking now and create your logo after reading this post. You don’t want to be delayed and have to take the time to do this once the hunt has started. Also, send off the team logo to every member of your team. Have them print it out and take it with them as they complete tasks. They’ll each need it!
- There are no limits to the number of members on your team. So don’t try and do this on your own. You’ll be competing against people who have teams of 5, 10 possibly 20 or more people in them. If you try and do it solo, you are bound to lose. Or you are a superhero and, if that is the case, you probably don’t need a share of the $50,000.
- Get a Freelancer.com account (free) and link it to your Facebook. It will make life a lot easier for you.
- The task list will be released by Freelancer.com at 5pm Eastern USA time on March 9th, and the contest closes at 6pm Eastern USA time on March 25th. You’ll have between these times to complete as many tasks as possible.
- Once the competition begins, Freelancer.com is supposed to have a “leaderboard” up, so that you can see where you stand in the competition.
Most of all, keep it legal and keep it fun. These guys at Freelancer.com basically rock and this event should be a great time for everyone involved. And if you win and you used my tips, maybe you’ll consider taking me out to dinner or something with all that great loot.
