The first annual Austinot T-Shirt Design Contest was launched on June 13, 2013 with a Grand Prize package valued at over $2,000. We closed the contest last week with twenty-seven entries. We’re grateful to everyone who took the time to create and submit a design!
In choosing a winner, we (Eric and Brittany) were looking for a design that complied with our guidelines, captured the vibe of Austin as a whole, and appealed to a wide range of people. By no coincidence, the winning design we ended up selecting was also the community favorite, receiving the most votes and the highest rating among all of the entries.
Grand Prize Winner: Ten Things About Austin
The Grand Prize winner of the 2013 Austinot T-Shirt Design Contest is Anya Surnina, with her design, “Ten Things About Austin.”
This sleek, one-color design represents many of the things and places that Austinites love about the city, including food trailers, music, funky graffiti, outdoor activities and recognizable landmarks.
And now, a little bit about the winner! Anya was born in Estonia and has had a passion for art since a young age. She moved to the United States when she was 17, receiving a degree in Interior Design in Houston. During her first visit to Austin, she fell in love. After plotting for some time, she was able to get a job here and make the move.
Anya told us, “I have been living in Austin and working as a website and graphic designer for two years now and I enjoy every second of it. I enjoy spending time with my friends, being outside, cooking, traveling, and working on DIY projects.” If you’d like to see more of Anya’s design work, check out her website.

redmule13 says
Congrats. But isn’t it a little too much like the Austinist logo? http://austinist.com/2013/08/21/we_noticed_something_about_austinot.php
Brittany Highland says
@redmule13:disqus, I think the background color, the font, and the fact that they both contain three of the most recognizable buildings in Austin make the designs seem similar. The background color will not be the same when the design is printed on t-shirts, the buildings aren’t leaving our skyline anytime soon and will remain, and the font is the designer’s favorite, used on her own website, and we plan on keeping it. Other than that, we reserved the right to alter the winning design in our original submission rules, and that process is taking place as we speak. Hope this helps.
Anya says
Actually, only two building are the same 🙂
Lush Luscious says
Yup looks pretty much the same as the Austinist logo.. Same lowercase font and all. For shame.
