You don’t want to miss these events. Many of them have been around Austin for years and have become summer traditions for many Austinities. Maybe you’ll become one of them!
Top 4 Outdoor Summer Events in Austin
- Summer Splash Movie Series at Deep Eddy – Grab a lawn chair and a floatie and get yourself to Texas’ oldest swimming hole. Saturday nights through July 28th, you can enjoy a film at Deep Eddy while lounging on the grass or floating in the pool. The Adventures of Tin Tin, Puss in Boots, Kung Fu Panda and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Pt. 2 will be showing before the series concludes. Check out our podcast episode for dates and tips on what to bring.
- 101X Summer Cinema Series – If you think that movies and pools don’t mix, we have another option for you. There are two showings left in the 101X Summer Cinema Series, which takes place at Central Market (Lamar/40th). Casino Royale will be showing on July 18th, and Wayne’s World will show on August 1st. Did we mention that the movies are free?
-
Blues on the Green – Blues on the Green has been an Austin summer staple for 22 years. Austin’s largest free concert series has three shows left to go. From blues, to rock, to country, to soul, there’s something for you. This is something that should be on every Austinite’s bucket list.
- Zilker Theatre Productions 54th Annual Summer Musical: The Sound of Music – Starting tonight and running through August 11th, The Sound of Music will be echoing through Zilker Park every Thursday-Sunday. Showings start at 8:30 PM. Pets and glass containers are not allowed, but outside food and drink is. For details on lawn chairs and getting there early, listen to the podcast.
