Fun Things to do in Austin this week of November 28, 2022 – Tuesday

17th Annual Tower Lighting

Mueller’s favorite tradition is back as an in-person event for the 17th Annual Tower Lighting event!

Come with your family or friends and watch the annual lighting of the control tower at 6:30 p.m. You can also continue the celebrations with refreshments, music, giveaways, a performance from the Northeast Early College High School Drumline, and a snowball fight. Mark your calendars!

A Sherlock Holmes Christmas

Nothing stops Sherlock Holmes from solving the world’s greatest cases, even Christmas. This holiday season, watch him and his trusty friend Dr. Watson solve the mystery of a missing flawless blue diamond hidden in a Christmas goose. In this play, the pair move through the wealthy drawing rooms of the 1890s aristocrats to the seedy side of Victorian London to follow the clues alongside with live classical music, carol singing, holiday cheer, and a bit of wassail. There will also be games, themed refreshments, live music, and interaction with the actors. Audiences are also highly encouraged to wear their favorite Victorian outfits.

The Hansel and Gretel – The Immersive Edible Experience

Did you ever read Hansel and Gretel as a child and wish you could taste that delicious gingerbread house that lured in the siblings? Well, here’s your chance to do so! In this immersive experience, you’ll be the main character and you’ll journey through the witch’s cottage where almost everything around you is edible!

Make sure you come in hungry though because, for the first time in your life, you’ll be able to chow down on furniture, ornaments, and even the walls. You can even get your fill of liquid chocolate from the chocolate pond!

This is a foodie’s dream so make sure to gather your friends and treat your tastebuds to a unique experience now! Take note, however, they’re only taking pre-registration so you’ll have to sign up to get your ticket price and the location of the event.

Safer Together Benefit Concert

Attend a night of great music while contributing for a great cause at the Safer Together Benefit Concert! The event will help raise awareness and funds for SIMS so they can continue their work providing mental health and substance use recovery services to the music industry and their dependent family members.

The concert also aims to help spread awareness about overdose death prevention. The concert series will feature multiple performances across three locally owned-and-operated music venues including Mohawk (Indoor), The Green Jay, and Empire (Garage). The concert is free to attend but donations are highly encouraged with all the proceeds going to SIMS.

Winter Wanderland

Village of Lights and Holiday Market. In addition to that, you can get to shop unique, handcrafted gifts by artists and makers living in the Community First! Village.

There will also be food available for purchase. And you can even get to watch classic Christmas movies at the Community Cinema and have pictures with Santa.

Watch and enjoy a wonderful Christmas classic with Ballet Austin’s performance of The Nutcracker this Saturday! From the scrumptious sets and costumes to the colorful characters, you’ll surely be delighted by the performance.

Hundreds of dancers are set to perform Stephen Mills’ enchanting choreography to Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s magical score with live accompaniment from Austin Symphony Orchestra. So make sure you book your seats early!

If you’re looking for an event with tons of family fun things to do this Sunday, look no further than the Westlake Wonderfest! Here, the afternoon will be filled with games and activities, free food provided by local restaurants, and photos with Santa Claus.

You can explore over 40 booths featuring activities like face painters, balloon artists, a photo booth, and family-friendly games. Additional activities include pony rides, a petting zoo, a bounce house, the Holiday Express Train, and live music.

There will also be plenty of photo ops at the event given that it will be decorated with live Christmas Trees and Poinsettias that will be raffled off to benefit Hearts for MK, which is the local chapter of The Cure Starts Now.
